Waiting for the weekend to install!

First Impressions:
Catch can looks really solidly built
Plug at the bottom is pretty neat. Not sure if it needs teflon if it gets removed, but it's an NPT fitting
Pretty clever design to divert the inlet air though I'm not sure if the second tab/wing does anything.
Pre-cut hoses look super clean. Much much happier I chose this over cutting existing hoses

Things that were a little off, but really really minor things:
  • The free plush was actually an inflatable penguin [mecry]
  • The bottom is actually kind of difficult to remove. I used the bracket to get a little bit more leverage and it came off OK. Should be easier when installed.
  • Mishimoto decal was missing part of the T.
  • I might replace the hose clamps because I tend to prefer the variety with an extended tail so the worm gear system doesn't cut into the hose.
  • Didn't get the fancy clear tube/package that's in the videos with all the snazzy "MISHIMOTO CATCH CAN" stuff on it. Only the white box
  • Mishimoto logo is inconsistently oriented on the hose! They'll probably be in the same direction once installed though.

I pulled the trigger on one too and it should be here Friday. Also, got the CFM Performance Valve Cover Breather Oil Cap (Amazon). They will be the first "mods" done to the car.

. I was watching a You Tube review and he said just hand tightening was sufficient when he reinstalled the bottom.

Not so easy to unscrew the bottom once installed. No room to snake your hands in there! I made a bit of a mod to the bracket. First, I soldered the little washers to the screws, then drilled out holes large enough in the bracket for the washers to fit in to. Now I can loosen the screws, twist, and drop the whole can. Still a pain pulling in up and out with the AC line sitting right there, but it's easier than trying to unscrew the bottom when attached to the bracket or unscrewing those tiny little screws and, with my luck, watching them drop into the engine bay.

Would you recommend installing a drain petcock on the bottom or would it still be too tight to get your hand in?

Most definitely. The Mishimoto drain kit gives you some tubing too, so you can pipe it to a convenient location.

Is the drain plug at the bottom center equally difficult to access (aside from blindly accessing it)? Seems like the easier thing to remove since you can at least use an Alan wrench.

Haven't really looked at what's around the catch can after installation. $41 seems steep for some plastic fittings and hoses.

When I get home I will try and snap some photos. Rode the two wheeler to work today. I think that would be easier than trying to disassemble the can, but I am not 100% sure it wouldn't drop sludge where you wouldn't want it.

Yea that's why I plan to buy the fittings and hoses myself for probably less than $10 at a parts store. My OCC should arrive tomorrow.

Hi there,
Sincerest apologies for the inconsistencies with your order! We will be sending you a replacement care package that will include a complete sticker (we've never heard of this company called Mishimoo). As for the orientation on the hoses, this was an intentional design that should look a bit better once installed on your Fiesta. Please let us know if you are in need of any additional assistance and thank you for your support!

Jesus....that looks near impossible to drain. Mine just arrived at my border shipping facility but I can't get it till Monday. I'll have to give it a good look and decide what to do drain wise I guess before installing it. I chose this one as I thought it to be the easiest to use and drain. D'oh!

Agreed...Might consider finding a quick disconnect option so I don't have hose dangling everywhere, but those things are pricey...Nmh5001's got a really good solution without having to buy additional add-ons.

At least it doesn't require an additional purchase just to install (sound symposer delete) like some others. It's certainly not ideal, but there's not much room in this engine bay. I also really like the bronze filter. Some have paper filters, others nothing but baffling. This one should both last the life of the car and sift out a ton of that slippery stuff from the air.

Aren't you supposed to just unscrew the can and empty it that way? That was what I thought we were supposed to do. That is one of the main reasons I purchased it. Hope it's true.

That's the intended design, but it looks really cramped from the images nmh5001 provided. Unsure if it's as difficult to remove as it looks, but I'll probably find out this weekend once it's installed.

Maybe I'll start a spinoff called Mishimoo...

I also got mine. I can't wait to install it but I got major chores this weekend so it will have to wait. Looks like I thought it would and seems like a quality piece!

Thank you for the feedback and photos! You can certainly incorporate a drain kit to make draining more simple in this small engine bay, rather than unscrewing the bottom of the can. There are multiple ways of emptying this catch can so that the user can choose the best way that works for their Fiesta!
