Mishimoto intercooler and Maxton splitter install

I was finally able to install my direct fit Mishimoto intercooler and Maxton Design splitter. Intercooler is total straight forward. Splitter was easy just a little fiddley.

A couple things that I forgot to mention about the intercooler install. Unlike the Mishimoto install video. I chose to remove the upper stock air diverter. To leave it on the Mishimoto diverter would have push the stock one up bending it and honestly it seemed redundant to run both. Also there where two very skinny bolts that have a 7mm head on them on the bottom of the bumper that we weren't able to reinstall after putting the splitter on because of the Mishimoto lower air diverter. My friend that helped with the install has been a body shop tech for more than 10 years and he said he wouldn't worry about not putting these two screws back on. So I will keep an eye on it and if it gets loose I can go back and drill two small holes through the lower diverter so the bolts can reach the clipped on nut on the bumper. The build quality of this intercooler is beautiful.

Looks good my man . I wish the Depo came with a stencil for a logo . I need a front lip but don't want to take the bumpe Off again lol .

Thanks man, the intercooler came pre-stenciled but I was glad it did. And yes if I ever take the bumper off again I will be replacing the radiator, crash bar and everything else I can. Even though I knew it would go back together it made me nervous to have my car taken that far apart.

No I was able to just unscrew/remove a couple of the clips on the fender liners to get to the back of the fog lights.



Yeah, I'd be a little nervous about it too lol...did you take the bumper off to replace the fog lights?

I originally ordered the gold but it was going to be too different from the gold on my wheels so i opted for the silver finish. One of these days i may decide to get it powder coated to match but no plans as of yet. I also upgraded my hotside charge pipe while i was under there.

I did realize the importance of an oil catch can from the amount of oil residue in the intercooler. I'll buy boomba's stage 2 during their next sale.

Looking good @Tex and [MENTION=1860]Azov[/MENTION]. Looking at your guys' installs makes me kind of wish I had removed the black insert on the lower part of the grill while I had the bumper off to allow for maximum airflow.

Looks good that's funny about the gold I was also planning to order the gold and called Mishimoto to find out about their return policy if I didn't like the shade of gold because of my bronze wheels. The sales rep talked me out of the gold. I also replaced my hot side pipe. I got the MBRP. My stock pipe was covered with oil so I have started looking at catch cans.

Removing is super easy. The bottom black grill just pulls off from the front so no need to take the bumper off to get to it. I had read on here that to remove all you had to do is carefully pull on one end and work your way across the grill. I was washing my car and was courious so I gently pulled on it and it came off.

I just got done reading the r & d thread, and there was no data on the final product. They did tests on prototypes throughout the development process but never tested the final product. Just wondering how they are performing for people that have them installed. What do your charge temps go up to over ambient?
