Magnaflow (15311) Cat Back System - Need Thoughts/Opinions

Never said that, I said there's not a point putting on a "high flow" catalytic converter. Larger tubing = better breathing = more power, usually. There is a point where you can go too large of diameter and mess up the back pressure.
Have you ever seen a dyno result for any of the Catless or Catted DP Upgrades for our cars?

I opened a can of worms here. To answer your question, no I haven't . But I bet there is more power.

@stuntdoogie
You might be right there too. Seems like I've seen turbo setups that exhaust straight out of the hood.

Yes, turbo cars benefit from as little back pressure as possible. If you go too large in the tubing though you can get lots of condensation pooling in the pipes.

Meh don't worry about worms or the can they came in .. It's all good as long as we learn from each other and treat others as we would like to be treated.. No bad questions.. This is my first Turbo car so its all good info for me too ..

Here's a few things I've learned in the past two days.

First: I went to Kozmic Motorsports and spoke with their sales guy yesterday. Here's what he had to say.
1) None of us need 3" exhaust. He said his EVO is pushing 850 HP and he's running 3" exhaust. At 200 HP it won't do anything.
2) A Cobb tuner only really works if you are running 91/93.
3) The stock downpipe is good enough.

Second: I went and spoke with a local muffler shop today. This what he said.
1) "If it was my car I'd put a muffler on the car since the tubing is fine."
2) Going larger diameter piping isn't going to help that much.
3) The resonator is what keeps drone to a minimum. If you don't want drone keep it on the car.

So at this point I don't know what I'm going to do.

"Good enough" is a pretty general term. Good enough for what? If you're staying stock or using it for yard ornaments sure, but it's a known thing that aftermarket downpipes add a fair amount of power and gobs (gobs is a unit of measure right?) Of torque. I'm 100% getting one since the stock is not good enough for me

There is some truth to his statement..but I don't think all of it is fact as we don't know how much time they spent thoroughly researching the FiST as much as a few other people here like 2jracing. People have also done their own tests and it does show that one of the biggest bottlenecks on our cars is the turbo and downpipe. Going bigger on the downpipe will free up some extra hp and tq. Going up from 2.5" to a 3" is overkill for some..but some people like the idea of having the potential to make big hp down the line without having to get a larger exhaust. Just my two cents..but that's still honest info you posted.

Yuppers Edit: this is a response to Stuntdog's response...and he is correct...I'll sum it up here...there is a balance to everything...why did Ford build this car and make everybody happy without a 3" exhaust? post your responses... because ,the diameter of the exhaust should be commensurate with the exhaust flow..even though back pressure is not an issue with turbo engines because of the whoosh, too large a diameter exhaust for the amount of flow is not ideal... we are trying to get it out as fast as possible..but remember engineering...blah blah blah

Here's how I decide to put something on my car that's suppose to make more hp + tq. I look at the dyno testing and actual street testing, in some cases both are best. Then I don't have to take what's his names word for it down the street. There's going to be tuners and speed shops out there that can give you some good advice and some they just assumed because there "Experts". That's why we're all here though to learn from other Fist owners we trust and the companies that we all support and buy from, because they Test.

Btw: (He's probably just upset because his Evos sitting on jack stands like the rest of the 850hp 9sec Evos)

I stopped by Hennessey Performance a couple months ago and talked to a sales guy there. As it happens we were standing next to a Ferrari 458 twin turbo when I was asking about the FiST. The only thing they do there is power packs. The reason I stopped by is I figured maybe their Tuner School would want to have a look or play around. I guess not. My options are pretty limited around here for our cars so I'm trying to get informed decisions but that seems easier said than done.

I can forget anything local to me, people just can't seem to get passed the Fiesta nameplate. I think that's what's holding back some performance shops from taking the plunge, they're too set in their ways of EVOs, STIs and the sorts to go out of their comfort zone for a fiesta. Went to an exhaust shop here and they kept going " but it's a fiesta" even after telling them it's no normal one. They all kinda laughed at it and the hp/tq numbers I was giving, one guy even blatantly called me out on them lol.

Part of the reason I pulled the Fiesta badge off the back of my car. This isn't the $14,000 Fiesta. Misconceptions abound around the car and the ill-informed.

That was going to be my first MOD (taking the Fiesta badge off) then I decided I wanted to leave it on so they knew what passed them.. I know one guy took the ST badge off and left the Fiesta badge I thought that was kinda sleeper like .. lol again People are funny and don't want to admit this is a great lil car with lots of Go sauce
