Loss of Power for a Second and the Car Died (P008B, P1450, P219A)

Hi All,

I've looked up my symptoms and have found threads with people experiencing similar things, with suggestions but no definitive solutions. I won't have time to look at the car further until this weekend, but I wanted to see if anyone has had a similar problem and found a solution for it in the meantime.

A month ago, I was driving on the highway in 5th gear, power cut out for a second or two, then resumed like normal without the car stalling. Everything was fine until yesterday, I was driving on the highway again and experienced this same thing 3 to 4 times. I am on the accelerator, then it feels like power just cuts out completely for a second or two, then power comes back. At one point when in stop in go traffic (in 1st gear), the car completely died. It started right away without any problem and worked as it should for the rest of my drive.

I'm at ~84k miles. The previous owner said he changed the spark plugs at ~55k and a new battery at ~58k.

Anyone else deal with this and find a solution?

Codes pulled:

P008B - Low Pressure Fuel System Pressure - Too High
P1450: Unable To Bleed Up Fuel Tank Vacuum
P219A: Air/Fuel Ratio (AFR) (Bank 1)

any codes??? These cars can suffer from faulty evap purge valves which need to be replaced from time to time that can cause symptoms similar to what you're experiencing...

Just pulled the codes, that is what it is showing. It looks like there are threads for some of these codes, I will do some research to see what needs to be done.

IF..... IF this is occurring shortly after a fill up ..... push the nozzle in and out several times after the fill. Also, DO NO
TOP OFF..... .. This is a known problem is some of the cars...

IF NOT..... I got nothin'.

Thanks for the tip. This happened when I had about half a tank of fuel. I never top the fuel off, but I haven't tried pushing the nozzle in and out after a fill up. I do sometimes get a bit of stuttering, like others, after a fill up so I'll give that a go next time.

I'm planning to replace the purge valve this weekend, hopefully that will solve the issues without further work needing to be done.

As an update if anyone comes across this thread in the future with similar codes:

I already knew my purge valve was likely going bad (stumbling after fill-ups). I also thought, based on the P008B code, that my low pressure side fuel sensor may be bad. I ended up purchasing both the purge valve and low pressure side fuel sensor. However, I decided to only replace the purge valve to start to see if that fixed my problems. After replacing it, I cleared my codes, they have stayed off after driving a few times (before I replaced the purge valve, P008B specifically would keep coming back), and everything seems to be running perfectly thus far.

I checked my low side fuel pressure with my Accessport, and it seems to be in the correct range from what I have read. I'll keep driving it for now, and if P008B comes back, I'll change out the sensor.

My car stalled again, and the P008B code came back. I am planning to replace the low side fuel sensor soon. You had a good guide on replacing it, you have any experience with P008B being fixed by replacing the sensor? I saw you were dealing with P008A in your replacement thread, though the same system just high vs low pressure.

The First time I did it I had a p0087 and a p008b code. Fixed it...it's been at least 30k and the sensor pooped again and now I just have this p008b code
