Lightweight internals for high rpm

Sounds fun but I would prefer more displacement and lower RPM. I hope this little engine can be made bigger or a 2.0 block can be matted to our head, etc.....something along those lines.

plus cost, would be around $1400 dollars for us stateside. Thats kinda pricey for slugs.

And the labor......$$$$ or lots of DIY time.......

The two things hardest on an engine, RPM and tune.

Boost, when tuned right, works so well because 90% of the added power is made at the strongest part of the stroke only adding around 20% more load on the parts.

High RPM causes more load on the parts nearly all the time and you can only spin up there so often. If I recall what I studied many years ago, the added load is not linear, it is exponential.

You can use displacement all the time, especially where most of the time the engine is rotating at.

Displacement uses more fuel of course, all the time but will spool a bigger turbo much better than a smaller engine.

I would be more than happy with a 1.8 compromise with just right turbo and tune, it could make all the power, all around, anyone would ever really need unless an drag racer willing to give up daily driveability.

These are blanket statements, there are exceptions to everything, just depends on how much one is willing to invest into the outcome and what they deem they can live with.

I can see a 1.8-2.0 liter Stroker happening at some point. We have the blessing of the base engine being used widely in racing.

I think head work, cams, and stronger head gaskets are a better starting point then bottom end changes at this point.

A stroker would be great if the only option to increase displacement which i prefer over higher RPM, as long as the cost is not nuts and the rod ratio works out well.

Cams and setting them up right can also be very costly, maybe these are already great boost cams, probably are, I hope so at least:)

If the head is anything like the exhaust manifold porting could help quite a bit if not to involved could be a DIY project.

I do not know much about the base engine, I guess I should learn more about it.

Porting a head without a flow bench is shooting in the dark, imho. Really easy to make things worse as well.

I meant for a decent clean up and opening things up a bit in a careful logical manner, port matching, not going all out, I could of been more specific.

Until we see inside the ports it is purely speculation as to whether there is any gain to be had, I will not be the one to mess with this unless I blow a head gasket, or worse but if my worse I will just buy a junkyard engine like I have had to do a few times and tune accordingly.

If the casting is a bad as the stock manifold then a modest job should help a bit I would think but I am not a tuner or engine builder, I pay for those services when needed.

I have no plans to do this as of now and not likely in the future but I never say never, very often at least:)

I have a janky video of the exhaust ports somewhere... Looked pretty dang good from that iPhone video.

I would also pay someone to port the head... Who ? No freaking idea...
