Interesting. at that price you are hardly saving money over a normal oil filter. At least, I wouldn't. I change my oil every 5,000 miles.

Compared to a standard k&n performance gold filter at $12 a piece I wouldn't save money until the 100,000 mile mark.
Cheaper ford fl-910s filter at about $9 wouldn't save any money until about 130,000 miles. Hardly worth it if you ask me

Anyone had any experience with these K&N filters?

Like the idea of internal magnets to catch the nasty stuff...
If you like the magnet idea you can buy reusable oil filter magnets (5 to $10). On our family tractors we do use magnet bands for that reason and even changed the oil drain plug to also include a magnet. That said on an aluminum engine it is not as useful. As for the life time oil. Just don't. You can never truly get them clean and honestly a fresh new filter is $5 to $10 so it is not really saving your anything. You would have to perform 25 to 30 oil changes just to break even. Not worth it, nor would I trust it.

This looks like a fancy version of the canister filter on my '59 Bugeye Sprite. I hated that filter due to the mess when cleaning it.

Looks like a good filter but too expensive. I'd stick on using regular filter since it is good enough.

But wasn't the filter element in the SPRITE a roll of toilet paper? At least someone had already changed the filter housing on mine when I got it so that I use a spin on. Nice to know there are other Sprite owners gravitating to the ST!

No it had a replaceable cartridge inside the canister. You were quite fortunate someone took the time to convert yours to a spin on filter.

I still have a new Frantz filter kit someplace and my wife just bought a 24 count package of filters.

When I hear lifetime filter...I see a gimmick. It's cheap insurance just to change the oil filter with a new one every 5k and have that warm and fuzzy feeling than a constant "Hey I'm gonna cause you major issues down the road you just don't know it yet" from the "lifetime filter" I remember a while back ford had transmissions labeled as having lifetime fluid in them....look where that got the owner. A trip down rebuild lane and thousands later all because they wanted to save a few bucks not changing the fluids. Not worth the risk IMO.

Lifetime could mean a shorter lifetime;)

--------------

I have posted this on several threads but want to make sure others see it that may not have.

Out of all the filters made I use Wix, Napa branded, great filters and reasonable cost, look into them:)

I also use a much larger filter for added oil capacity, flow, filtering and a bit of help in cooling the oil, you could certainly run one for a longer interval as the internal volume is at least double the stock size filter.

What is the longer filter number? Just curious so if I ever want to I can pick one up!

Cheers

As you can see a much larger filter and it fits with stock radiator and oil cooler, with stock cooler still in place and with it removed and DIY Mishimoto radiator and modded stock fan.

Part # 1355 but you can use a different one if you want one in black instead of white, a bit smaller, even bigger.....

The longer Ford filter is the FL-400s. That is what I use. Its a tight fit but diameter is the same and work great.
Any ideas on how much more media area the 400 has over stock? I think many times the penny pinchers select the smallest filter they can. My 03 Mazda's original filter is smaller than the one on my riding mower...626 V6 filter has the same mounting specs and probably three times the media area...

Good article to read here:

I find the FL400s is cheaper than the FL910s, likely due to manufacturing process and volume of unit mfged.
