Based on where this OCC will be attached (passenger side motor mount), it looks like one would need to pull the passenger side light in order to be able to dump the oil collected in the can. Maybe you guys can put a valve at the bottom to make draining easier????

Kinda sounds like more work than necessary with having to remove the passenger light to empty the can....Appears as if all you'd need to do is simply remove the bracket bolts, lift up the can which will allow for unscrewing of the bottom for draining...Adding a drainage valve might be a good idea though provided it doesn't develop any leaks ...

You'd be removing the passenger side engine mount nuts to pull the can. Three bolts, or really two bolts and a plastic bolt , pop the light out and you can dump the can. That's why I mounted mine where the air box used to be. Nothing needs to be removed to dump the reservoir.

Maybe they will have a bracket that will require only an install and then another bracket that can be disconnected so that you can pull the can. I'm basing my "guess" based on a pre-production bracket. I could be mistaken.

I just ran out to the garage to verify and if the current location is indeed correct for the Mishimoto Can (as seen in recent pics) it appears as if you can even reach down and unscrew the bottom of the can without even having to remove it from the bracket...

Side note: damn my garage is hot...Its close to 9pm and still over 100F here...but its a dry heat (yeah right!) haha

I'm sure Mishimoto has already taken into consideration and explored options as to how to drain the can from the current location...Perhaps mishimoto can comment on if they addressed draining the OCC in the current location...

I also like that the hose routing in Mishimoto's current spot requires a minimal amount of hose length and routing acrobatics ;)

I am really looking forward to putting this OCC on my car. This is my first real car I can/want to mod and only want to best. I am excited to see the pace Mishimoto is moving at to get this to market. This could very easily be my first mod on my new car!
We are honored to be the first mod on your FiST and congratulations on your first modified car, Welcome to the dark side!

Count me in. Looks great and like the placement
Thats a nice location for the can too :)
Im liking this! I need one soon
Take my money now lol. That catch can is amazing its on my must have mod list
Awesome, can't wait to get one
PLEASE take my money!
Thank you for all of the kind words! We are as excited about this release as you are, stay tuned for more updates and info!

Very nice. I'm most definitely in. Hope that colour of hosery is an option.
You got it! The hoses for this kit will be available in red, black, and blue to match the many colors of FiSTs we see out there

Well done and thanks for sharing the steps involved in the development process...

The new location appears to allow for a cleaner routing of the hoses and greater accessibility for periodic emptying of the Can...
now this is what u call r&d and being clear with ur costumers and having them in mind
Absolutely! We want to share our process with the community so that we can get your input when it is most valuable, during development.
As always thank you for your support!

Very nice! The anodized black is a good all-around color, however I hope in the future you will also consider making a polished version because I want this beauty to stand out in my engine compartment! It's too nice of a product to stay "hidden" and blended in with the rest of the engine...
At this current moment there are only plans for the anodized black can, but depending on how many requests we get for a polished can we would definitely consider that as an option.

When do expect release for sale?
Also curious on the release date.
We really do appreciate your patience, right now we do not have a concrete release date. I can assure you all that you wont have to wait much longer and that I will post the details as soon as we have a date set!
Thanks again for all of your support

Thanks for the kind words! There is no need to remove the headlight or the bracket to empty the catch can. We selected the location and designed the can for ease of maintenance so you should be able to unscrew the can while it is still mounted on the car. And if you want to make draining even simpler we make a drain kit that adapts for this can if you so choose.
Thanks again for your support!

I believe I understand the need for a catch can but why would it not work to just reroute the oil vapor straight to the oil pan instead of a catch can?

Oil will be dirty from traveling through the intercooler piping ETC.

Possibly also mixed with small amounts of water. But someone else may be able to chime in.

Not to mention it may pressurize your crankcase which is a no-no.

That is a great question! It is possible to drain the contents of the can into the oil pan, and I am aware of this being done on other types of cars, some even come from the factory with catch can systems routed to the oil pan for ease of maintenance. We do not design our catch can this way for a few reasons. Routing the can to drain into the oil pan would require quite a bit more materials and development driving up the cost of the catch can, not to mention making install much more difficult. Also because the contaminant mixture is not solely made up of oil. There can be fuel vapors and condensation present, in very small amounts, even still we would not want to introduce any additional debris to the oil in the pan if we can avoid it. This is not to say that the contaminants being re-introduced to your oil would damage the motor, but we feel better safe than sorry in this instance. Also, we think that it is kind of cool to open the can and see how much debris you saved your intake system from.
Hope this helps!

Any updates for us Sara?
Patiently awaiting this as well
Hi guys! Thanks for being patient we are working to get the pre-sale for these going. Right now we are waiting on the quick release fittings to arrive so we can test fit them. We want to make sure that everything functions properly before we release the kits to you. As soon as I have some concrete information about a date for the pre-sale and pricing etc, I will make sure to share with you.
Thanks for your support!
