Injen SP Air Intake For Fiesta ST - REVIEW

Is anyone worried about water getting in the intake? I drove through a pretty wicked rain storm and everything under the hood was wet. The little slots around the air filter box were full of water when I checked my oil.
I bet the water had no way of draining out so it was trapped in the box. I used to have an mk4 gti 1.8t and in that car I had a true Cold Air Intake (Injen)installed. That means the filter itself was sitting all the way down the wheel well kinda right behind the front left wheel way at the bottom,it was actually easier to install or take off the filter from underneath the car that's how low it was. I had zero problems with water. Though one time coming home from a job in the summer it had rained so hard for 2 days straight/non-stop everything had flooded, and in this particular area of harlem(harlem river)notorious for flooding, there was a big a$$ pond like area I had to cross en route to go home.

Well I went for it and sure enough the engine bogged down and died off,idk if it was the intake or the fact that my car was so low that my magnaflow exhaust would scrape as well as oil pan on the smallest of bumps [?|]. Bottom line that's the only time i thought my intake gave me trouble. Now this one in particular for our cars is a shorter version I assume we're just fine.

Either way the car was fine I pulled over went and got some garlic knots or something to eat to let it dry. Came back 30-45min later and she fired right back up [pray]

Hey did you have trouble with the vibration rubber mount that goes on the right side of the engine? The electrical lines get in the way of the bracket you are suppose to secure to the engine on that mount. It was a pain in the a$$ to get a 10 mm in there to tighten down so I did my best with my hand and a extended 10mm. Anyone put the electric lines on the inside of the bracket or the outside? I have both on the outside but it seems that the intake for that reason alone has a design flaw. I also forgot to mention that the battery prevents a extended 10mm to get in there and tighten down. Any thoughts?

I know this is a bit late, but I just installed my Injen Intake and I wanted to leave some feedback. I know Cobb just released their intake, but I wanted one that would really enhance the sound. So far I am LOVING this intake. Here is a clip:

I do have a couple of notes on the install though. First of all, it can be VERY difficult to get all of the hoses and lines to clip back properly onto the new intake. This is due to the Wrinkle Red paint. It made it a HUGE pain in the ass to put on the lines. I had to sand off the paint completely in certain areas. This is a mistake that can be easily fixed by Injen. Also, like rupp179 said, the bolts that hold the heat shield to the engine are very difficult to install. You have to have small hands to get the washer/nut on underneath it, and it was super difficult to tighten. These two things alone delayed me about an hour. Also, when removing the stock intake tube to the turbo, be sure to twist it back and forth in order to make it pop off. I could not simply pull it straight off once I loosened the clamp. Quick swivel motions help a ton. Aside from the rocky install, I am very happy with my purchase!

That sounds real nice. I am looking forward to getting this CAI. I'm just waiting for tax season to hurry up before I put more money into the FiST

Bringing this one back so I don't create a new thread. Just installed the SP9018WB short ram intake that is made for the 2016+ FiST and it fits real well. For those with either kit I recommend cutting 1/2 to 3/4 of an inch off of the 8mm bolts that hold the heatshield down. The bolt closest to the drivers side is less than a 1/2 inch form the wire loom below if not trimmed. I feel that you get just the right amount of turbo spool and bypass valve noise. Since there is no dry flow panel filter this maybe one of the simplest ways to utilize a dry flow in this car.
