How to replace front map lights?

There's lots of posts/articles showing how to replace the rear map/dome bulbs but I haven't found any showing how to do the same for the front map lights. The ones I have found show a different light housing than on my car, which has a moonroof. I've tried gently pulling the entire unit down but don't want to be too aggressive in case that's not the correct approach or if I break a clip or similar.

Here's a picture showing what I need to remove to replace the bulbs: http://imgur.com/lbq7Zjx

Would a factory service manual detail their replacement ?

I'd like to update the interior lighting to white-light LEDs. Not sure why they weren't LED already. In my experiences they're reliable, cheap, plentiful.

When/if I eventually get around to this, will post the Amazon links for purchase on the LED "bulb" parts.

Cool. Any idea what type of bulbs are in there ? Are you pulling them to replace with LED ?

A good tug and the map light assembly pops out, just be careful to not pull the wires too hard

Just wait until you get to the rears, you gotta pull it out then remove all the screws -_- such a pain

That was a real PITA when I did mine, I'm glad I did LEDs so I never will have to worry about changing a burnt out bulb

One thing I've noticed is that the interior lights fade on/off. How well does the system handle the LEDs ?
