Help! I have a 2016 Ford Fiesta S/ Which blend door actuator do I need that goes behind climate control knob?

I have a 2016 Ford Fiesta S and the blend door actuator right behind my climate control knob started making a clicking noise when I turned it on. My car has 3 blend door actuators. I ordered part YH2016 (AV1Z19E616K) and had my mechanic remove the old one and put that one in. The problem is that now, after it was installed, the cold or warm air only blows out my side vents by the windows and not the main vents on the dash. My car doesn't get cool enough in hot weather. So, I think I ordered the wrong part. I called the Ford customer service line, but they only told me that my car has 3 actuators, they couldn't tell me which one I needed. The other 2 actuators are YH1896 (BE8Z19E616B) and YH1895 (BE8Z19E616A). My mechanic is not sure which one I should order. He hasn't worked on Ford Fiestas before. Any help is appreciated.

one actuator controls the temperature, which can be found to the left of the glovebox. another actuator can be found behind the glovebox which controls recirculation/fresh air. the final one controls the path of the air which is found to the right of the steering wheel. it could be that you're referring to that last one but maybe the first mechanic didn't reconnect the plastic tubing for the center registers?

Thank you for your reply. In order to replace the part, he removed the area by the steering wheel. Before he replaced the actuator, the clicking only happened when turning the middle knob, which is the climate control knob in the 2016 Ford Fiesta S. The part that he installed was Dorman 604-251 which is comparible to Motorcraft AV1Z19E616K. I am thinking that I ordered the wrong actuator since the airflow only comes out of the vents by the windows and not the main vents on the side. My mechanic is pretty thorough when it comes to installing parts, so I don't think the would have forgotten to reconnect the plastic tubing for the center registers. Before he takes apart the area by the steering wheel again, I need to make sure that I have the correct actuator installed. Its frustrating to say the least as I have called the 1-800 Ford customer service center and all they could tell me was this particular car has 3 actuators and they couldn't tell me which one I needed. I appreciate your reaching out to help me.

If the mechanic went through the steering column area that is what is typically called the Driver's Side actuator. The thread I sent you identifies that one as
DRIVER SIDE
"Defrost mode door actuator"

Has 5 prongs
Motorcraft YH-1896 is the part you want, it is the updated one, made in China
Dorman 604-400 is the Dorman version
Motorcraft YH-1935 is the old part number, made in France...the YH-1896 above is the replacement part for it, updated (in theory)
Ford AV1Z-19E616K is Ford's number for the YH-1896, they are the same thing
Ford AV1Z-19E616A is Ford's number for the YH-1935, this is the old part number before update
I believe you may have the part numbers mixed up in your original post.

If you have the correct part installed and it doesn't operate correctly it may not be fully inserted and not meshing the gears or defective. Or the electrical connector wasn't plugged in. I recently installed a Drivers Side actuator and there was no need to disconnect any ductwork so if it were, it was disconnected inadvertently.

I checked out the link you sent and it made a lot of sense. I will order the Motorcraft YH-1896 part and get my mechanic to replace the one in there with the new one. I will tell him to make sure that it is fully inserted and that the electical connector needs to be plugged in. I know he was having problems getting to that area to install the other one. He has big hands, so I am thinking I should also order a finger driver to help him with the install. You have been a great help. Thank you!

I recently had the actuator near the steering column area replaced, and it was the one that I have referred to as the mode door, the one that controls the direction of the air.
Does your car have the automatic HVAC system? That's the one that's on our ST models.

Yes, its an automatic. I checked out the part number and it fits my 2016 Ford Fiesta S. I also checked it out by VIN and it is the correct one. Thanks!
