Digging this up one more time, for those with navigation, using this antenna will break your navigation. The Fiesta combines the nav and FM antenna where the Edge has 2 separate antennas.

This is NOT true.
I have the fin on my car and the NAV works perfectly.

There ARE two fins listed as parts, the part number that I provided earlier is the correct one for w/NAV.

Odd, my confirmation came directly from a Ford parts guy. That is the antenna I have installed though. Unless something else knocked out my nav.

Well you are partially correct.
The GPS antenna is on the windshield.
The two different fins are for standard or premium stereo.
All NAV cars have premium stereo.

Anyway more than myself have them installed now and no one has complained until now.
Maybe you should re-check your install again or maybe you just got a bad part.

I also confirm there is no issue with the part number [MENTION=879]D1JL[/MENTION] and I have listed. I have the NAV and the XM radio and both work perfectly. The Shark fin should only affect the XM and FM/AM not the GPS which is a different antenna module.

Did you keep your original? Try to swap a stock antenna back in first.

That's what I figured too. But I hate having to deal with a dealer on something like this. They're always looking for an "out" when they can. You get an advisor that wouldn't know which functions are related to that antenna in the first place, but they'll pin it on the antenna confidently.

Easy enough to switch back to pin point the problem if it is believed its the sharkfin.

Just wanted to thank this thread for the photos.

I did this with a used antenna from eBay the other day. Instructions were straight forward but I did manage to leave a noticeable crease in the headliner because I pulled it back a little too far. But because of my over-zealous movement of the headliner I was able to see the antenna connectors and unplug them easily.

Some instructions on the forum suggested using pliers to pull the retaining clip off, however I found the clip falls down on the headliner if you wiggle and pull hard enough on the antenna base and pop it off the roof.

The hardest part for me was the dome light removal and re-installation. Trim removal tools, patience, and Google saved the day.

Still testing it out and FM reception is a mixed bag now. In the suburbs, some stations come in spotty where I got full strength before, while some HD stations take quite a some time to lock on. Satellite radio is the free preview and it doesnt seem at all affected. What a difference 9" makes (that's what she said). I guess its not a big deal if you only listen to XM or USB/BT/CD audio.

Years ago, I got an antenna the same size as a 50 calibre round. Don't have any issues with reception for local radio unless I go out of range, ie to Palm Springs for golf.

Bringing this up again. I got JJ7Z-18936-AAPTM as it is the superseded part# of the one OP posted. Now I'm worried because I have a 2017 and I have zero boxes or modules on the windshield for GPS but I do have Nav. On my way to work today I have the no GPS icon on my nav, there is no antenna currently installed as I haven't put on the new shark fin yet and I'm waiting to buff the new roof paint prior to installing an antenna. I wonder if in 2016+ they changed the GPS module to be the antenna?

This makes sense because when I was looking up how to remove the headliner in the workshop manual, it was telling me to remove a module on the windshield but I have no module there. I bought the car new, the windshield is OEM, and I DO have Nav. They must've changed something. This antenna is still plug n play as I did check prior. Just didn't check if I had GPS while the shark fin was plugged in because this thread seemed to confirm it. I guess we'll see when I plug it in.

Digging more into this.

Found a VIN from a 2015 FiST with nav and compared it to my 2017. Which most likely would've been OP's year.


You can see in the catalog they have two different harnesses that I hovered over in the antenna picture near the bottom. My VIN actually has a splitter for the Nav, other one doesn't.






Then going to the module page, mine showing not equipped but 2015 is equipped on the "19A366"







This must have something to do with it. Again, I haven't actually checked when my sharkfin was plugged in to see it I had nav but if it wasn't in the antenna I think I should have nav, even with the antenna unplugged.

Only thing I can think of is that little box that is on the splitter harness in the picture for my 2017 and that is NOT on the 2015 harness acts as a GPS module when plugged into the antenna, then the antenna just amplifies the signal. That could explain trahma's problem in this thread since he has a 2016 and a 2016 is like mine, unless he had a separate problem, as he did not report back after plugging back in his OE one.

Figuring more out on this as I go into the electrical diagrams. It seems if you have Sync 2(says Sync 1 in pic), you have a GPS module on the windshield. Sync 3 had a splitter box on a harness that goes to the antenna.

Found this in the workshop manual as well. This is for a 2018 Edge which the sharkfin part# comes from(2015-2018 Edge). I looked at my VIN afterwards and it literally says the EXACT same thing. So technically this antenna should work. I'll report back once I get it hooked up.
