I’m guessing it would be a nightmare to go through the mountune warranty program. It took my dealer a whole week to replace the blend door.
Many dealers, to cut costs and improve quality of work, have certain people that specialize in certain types of diagnostics and repairs. The guy who did water-intrusion work wasn't available except for once a week. So I was given an option to either bring it in on the day of his arrival. They also warned me that it might sit for week awaiting the return of this specialist. I got the impression that he traveled around from dealership to dealership, rendering these same types of repairs.

Sounds about right. I don’t know if my dealership was swamped or what. I took it in for the blend door actuator and to have a creak diagnosed. They said the diagnosis would take 3-4 days. It took 6 Days to diagnose and and another morning to put the actuator in. So I spent about $150 for a rental car to get the $50 actuator installed. And of course the creaking that I had been hearing for months fixed itself when I pulled in to the dealer.

I heard the loud clack on clutch release from the trans/differential the second I turned out of the dealership. Somehow that had fixed itself between the time I dropped it off and picked it up too. [wink] Assuming the creaking wasn't blend door related, (there are constant minor adjustments being made when HVAC is on auto,) don't be surprised if that comes back. My seat was creaking but primarily only as I shifted to get out. That minor annoyance thankfully fixed itself. I suspect a heavier person just needed to spend some time in it LoL.

I sounded like a creaky bushing up front. I waited a few months to take it in and sure enough it went away. It’s still gone, so I’m not complaining, but I won’t be surprised to hear it again. Also, knowing how long it takes to get a diagnosis, I will probably try to diagnose and fix anything this small from now on. I felt compelled to take advantage of the warranty and ended up paying more than I should have and was without the car for a week.

We're not the only customer and good work takes time, but I wonder whether that's part of the game to keep warranty work to a minimum. Keep it for a week and put 600 miles on it. I had a second vehicle (motorcycle) but it won't hurt to request a loaner vehicle. Worse they can say is 'no'. Customer Service for many of the 'foreign' dealerships will pony up on a loaner. That's also incentive to turn your work around faster.

Is the fan coming on FULL BLAST, EVERY TIME the HVAC system is activated a symptom of the blend door actuator malfunction??

What are the main symptoms of the blend door problem?

That was one of my complaints when taking it in. One poster here claimed their dealer fixed it with a firmware update. The dealer I took it to said they were puzzled by it; seemed to be by design. Said they went out to the lot and the new ones (of course) behaved the same way. I never use auto or temperature control so it doesn't really happen anymore. (temp pretty much stays on "HI" unless off)
