Ford says Fiesta won't return for 2018

No big deal as long as after market and replacement parts keeps going. It just means once I get my done up with flares, engine/turbo and body styling it'll be a super rare tiny (wtf is that?) car on the road.
Why would aftermarket support be there for a car that is dead and doesn't have much hype to begin with? And no one really cares about being rare. This isn't a 918 Spyder where only 918 get made in the world. For someone that buys cars like these, we want to be part of a car club where we can meet up with other FiST enthusiasts and go to meets.

And to be honest, I feel the car is already rare and no one knows wtf it is. LOL. Of the people that THINK they know what it is, they asked me if it was a Focus.

And really, how many people keep their car to payoff? Damn few. How many people would have a five to seven year old Fiesta that they would maintain so well that dropping a couple of grand into add ons to upgrade it? We are talking about unicorns now! Moral of this story​? Nice Fiestas AND parts are available now. They will be fading fast within 2 years! So now is better than later.
There may not be many, and yes I may be the grand exception, but I am one who plans to keep this car WAY PAST payoff, and take meticulous care of it along the way.

I am NOT your 'typical' sport compact/hot hatch buyer who gets bored easily, and dumps current rides for the next hot thing/flavor of the month coming down the pike, as frequently as I change socks, even after throwing MUCH coin in mods at it, on which they will lose $$$$ doing. [nono]

But, I do get your point about the new parts/R&D thing fading FAST.
It looks like I will not be getting that turbo kit at that very late date, unless it is a used setup, and maybe not even then.
There are worse things I can think of that having to 'live with' this factory snail, like having to drive a Camry for the rest of my days on this planet. ;) lol

Well I don't care to be part of any club, I really just bought the car because my wife pissed me off one day but I been looking at something even smaller than my Yaris that had nice power from the get go and was a bit different than most econo boxes.

Tic toc. No new Fiesta enter the market. General rule is fifty percent are wrecked or otherwise destroyed in ten years. This means a steadily declining number of people who are in the market for Fiesta parts and especially the expensive performance stuff. And really, how many people keep their car to payoff? Damn few. I keep my cars till pay off and then some. I have no need to change cars every two years. I had my 2011 Yaris for 6 years and it was paid off long time ago and I did 200K KM on it in those years. Only reason I sold it cause it was taking up space and didn't want it to rot away and have someone else get some use out of it so blew it out cheap. Shit should see how much I hauled in it for my shop. The Fiesta I'll keep for ever I guess since I'll be modding it till it blows blue. Its not a Lancia Delta HF but close enough besides I missed getting the Lancia at a descent price by at least 10 years, they jumped in price and rarity here.

Oh and I drive the shit out of the Fiesta. Put on 11K Km+ in 8 weeks.

I'm not a typical hot hatch buyer either. I have owned the same 69 Mustang mach 1 since July of 1985. A modified Ford Ranger since it was new in September of 1992 and a Escort Zx2 S/R since new in April of 2000. I won't be wasting my time and money on doing any new cars as modified street cars. The complexity and costs are just too much

The next generation of Fiesta is not going to be offered in North America. They did not say that it was delayed or will be brought in later. It was pretty clear and emphatic. And not at all unexpected.

I'm reading through motor trend's 2018 new car guide and they talked up the fiesta as if it was coming to the states. Just more confusion.

Yeah, the latest rumors seem to be just the ST might be coming ashore. We won't truly know until Ford releases their official statement.

It seems like the 2018 non ST trims are far superior the the outgoing models. It's kind of silly that Ford wouldn't consider giving them a test run in the states.

I will admit that I have not read through all eight pages of this thread, but hearing the rumors that the Fiesta will not come to the States in 2018 got me really focused (or should I say fiestaed?) on a new fiST. When I saw this past weekend that Ford is throwing $3000 of their money towards the purchase of a new one until mid-October, I pounced. There were two Orange Spice cars available for sale new in the Columbus, Ohio area. Now there is only one. [shakehands]

I believe that you cannot order a Fiesta anymore. That 3k rebate is the financial broom to help dealers clear existing inventory off the lots.

If Ford is doing a model change over, I think the middle of July is about as late for tooling and line changes that can still get 18 model year going by September. That's if things don't change too drastically.

For model year 2016, when they knew there was going to still be the (same model/'mark'/tooling) FiST available for 2017, the last day to order one was 11/26/16, if I remember correctly.

They also have a history (since the mid 90's) of short model years like the 2003 Zx2 or late introductions, aka mid-year introductions. I would think that announcement of the end of a vehicle line is less of a a concern than the new incoming vehicle, from a public relations pov.

Yes, they could very well have been just 'using up' all of the remaining manufacturing/assembly line supply of OUR USDM Mk.7 parts, and then that's IT. [:(]
