Hey guys, so the weather is nice and I finally got around to installing my 2J Racing DP. The DP is really well made and I highly recommended it!
I'm going to make this super short and break it down into 12 steps, if you have any specific questions, feel free to ask me! Attached are some reference pictures of the work area.
This was all completed on jack-stands/ramps, from start to finish with breaks it took me 4 hours all by myself with basic tools
The one tool that is absolutely needed to get the O2 sensor off is the 22mm open end 3/8 socket, I used the Kobalt one from Lowe's, it was $7. If you have a complete basic set of mechanics wretches / sockets, you should be good to go, but a nice breaker bar is a must.
Good idea is to hit the O2 sensors over-night with some penetrating fluid.
This DIY is just for instructional purpose only! Please follow at your own risk! If you don't feel confident enough, please do take to shop!
1. Jack the car up, or like I did roll it up ramps, make sure the parking brakes are engaged!
2. Remove engine cover, air-box, intake tube down to the cold-side, battery, battery tray, battery neg ground, ECU attached to the battery (mostly 7mm / 8mm / 10mm bolts)
3. From under the car, de-tach CBE from the stock DP (15mm), get the CBE off the hangers, remove the stock DP mounts from the underside.
4. "Break" the rear O2 sensor loose from the underside, then remove from stock DP, get to the top-side and "break" the front O2 sensor loose, then remove.
5. Remove all the heat shield, the one cover half of the stock DP, and the one cover the manifold, lots of 8mm bolts, this part took me the longest, just trying to figure out how to extract all the heat-shield
6. "Break" the 3 bolts (10mm) holding the DP to the hot-side of the turbo, top 2 are accessible from the top, the 3rd one is easier from the bottom. Once the DP is free, remove the small plate by the shifter cables, 3 bolts, when you see it you will know what I am talking about.
7. Pull the DP gently up towards the driver side / battery tray area, get it around the coolant hoses / wire, be careful not to snag on anything, it will clear, just take your time.
8. Pull round gasket from stock DP, place in the same place on the 2J DP, drop the 2J DP in place as where the stock DP went, start putting the bolts in (put anti-seize on them)
9. Connect the CBE to the 2J DP, make sure the supplied exhaust gasket and bolts are used, make sure all connections are snug tight.
10. Reconnect rear and front O2 sensors, (I put a little bit of anti-seize on the thread), make sure all connections are snug tight.
11. Re-install engine cover, air-box, intake tube down to the cold-side, battery, battery tray, battery neg ground, ECU attached to the battery
12. Fire car up, enjoy the extra power, let me know if you have any questions!
