What kind of difference does this make?

I've been on the fence with buying one, but don't want to go through the hassle of changing it back to stock if I have to for any reason.

Is it recommended to also do the crossover pipe if you're doing this intake hose?

It just widens the intake hose from the Airbox to the crossover tube. 30% increase in CFM over stock.
