Focus ST OEM Intercooler retrofit to FiST ?

I have been looking around a few threads and I cannot seem to find any information to see if it would be possible to retro fit the oem focus intercooler to a st180.

They can be picked up pretty cheap and from what I have apparently read so far, they offer a 30% increase over the stock intercooler.

Has anyone managed to fit one and test it out ?

It sounds like at least a couple people have tried it but the consensus is even if you get a FoST IC for free, it's not worth the effort. It's apparently a lot of work to make it fit. It's discussed a bit in the official IC thread that's a sticky in these sub-forum.

Isn't the FoST intercooler terrible? I swear I've read quite a few tuning articles about how junky the Focus intercooler is. I could be wrong, however.

I've heard it is much better and easier to just get a depo racing intercooler if you are on a tight budget. of course this is what I've read and not my experience. I am... saving up my pennies to get a CP-E :)

Its not just about area but also flow rate. Just about any aftermarket set up will be better.

Myself and plenty others have mtc it's a perfectly fine choice.
Thanks for the info! I saw on their listing that you may have to modify, or remove, the under tray. Can anyone speak to just how much modding of it I'd have to do? I'd prefer to cut up as a little as possible on this car.

Very minimal. I trimmed a little off the lower plastic mounting tab. Depo has a similar fmic might be cheaper. There both Cobb clones.

Actually, even ordering from the uk it's cheaper than depo. Not by much, but cheaper. I wanted to order from them but they were out of stock.

The MTC intercooler is a direct fit in place of the old intercooler. There was no need for me to even remove any plastic trim. I will post up some pictures soon.
