Hey everyone, new guy here. Kind of an interesting story as to how I landed here and with this platform. I come from a sport compact background, used to be very big in the Saturn community (stop laughing) and still have my old project car which is heavily modified. In the last few years, my best friend and I started a JDM import company out here in Orlando, bringing in vehicles that adhere to the 25 year import rule. It's a blast and got me back into the car scene of sorts. Well, I've always had a soft spot for the Focus and Fiesta, especially the ST line. Recently we acquired a 2014 with a pretty good build on her that we're making a shop car. I'll add the link to the previous owner's modifications at the end of this post. We picked up the car yesterday and it's a blast to drive with all things on it now. Obviously there's some things I want to change on it, cooling is a big concern down here, but always open to suggestions! Hoping to learn a lot about this car from here, somewhat miss the forum life haha :)

Quick shot of our new guy. Between the tune, Pumaspeed X37, and other little bits we're really happy with this score.

For whatever reason there's still a stock airbox, so currently in the hunt for an intake. Probably rewire the AEM meth injection after that as well and remount the controller.

WELCOME!

Exclusively JDM only importation, or could you also do the Brit/Euro earlier Ford RS stuff (i.e.; Escort Cossie RS/WRC, etc.)?

I wish, I'd love a proper Cosworth. Unfortunately no, we deal with an importer and auction houses in Tokyo and surrounding areas. It's not so bad though having a bunch of GTR's and Supras on hand at times

I still like to turn wrenches though, and my partner and I are really excited about this new project.

Check to see if the Stock Airbox has a hose coming out the bottom. If it does its the ST200 box. If it is just get a high flow panel filter and call it a day...Intakes are negligible and mostly for noise as we have found out. Check to see if there are any open recalls also if you haven't already.....2014s were the first year and had their set of issues that were later remedied in newer models past a certain point. FYI. Good luck and God speed! Enjoy...... Welcome and....

I know there's a drop-in filter in it, but I didn't see the outlet on the bottom, I'll double check tough. Personally, it doesn't make enough spool noise for me, so if I find a good deal it's worth it. I'll check the VIN as well to see if there's anything still open campaign wise. Thanks for the heads up!

IF you're a big fan of the proverbial 'jet engine noise/volume' type intake, then look into the 2J Racing cowl intake for these cars. [wink]

LOL It's like you read my mind! I know we were looking at FSWerks or HPS, but I'll check that out as well! My daily is a 2 BAR Sonic 1.4T, so I'm very bias to all of that haha.

I thought these were out already, I see it's a presale now?

2jintakes are although for equal to same performance almost as much noise and less hassles I would go ITG Maxogen intake. that winds up in the inside fender well. No hassles of cutting your cowl to install. No hassles of rattle inside the cowl and while you still get most of that intake growl you can actually talk to your buddy in the passenger seat lol. As the 2j literally puts the intake pipe right under your windshield between the firewall and cowl.
I love intakes and considered the ITG seriously. I live in California though and my ST200 box looks stock up top.
Another thing is if you want to increase intake and turbo noise a couple of things can help that. One is a crossover pipe which is one of the few intake upgrades that has actually dynoed out giving you a bit more power. The other things are a J pipe for the hotside if one is not on there already as the factory one is small and has a noise cancelling baffle built into it. lol
That and remove your sound symposer and block it off. Also install a blowoff valve. As the factory diverter valve will fail over time as its just a cheap plastic unit. I did this stuff on my car and you can hear a lot more whoosh and the valve letting off.

There's already charge pipes on it (red silicone units I noticed at the test drive), along with a TurboSmart Dual Compact BOV, MTC intercooler, etc. I'm not sure if there's a sound symposer on it anymore, I'll have to look when I'm back at the shop. Went ahead and put in an order for the 2JR, I can deal with fitment/noises and combat that honestly. Just waiting on confirmation from Pumaspeed on wha the outlet is on the turbo, since it looks like the size is larger than the stock turbo was.

Luckily in FL there's little hassle with builds, plus this is mainly going to be a car on rallys and for fun anyway.

We'll see soon enough though! Thanks for the input though!

well those are hoses question is are the factory plastic pipes in between been changed out metal after market? is their still a funny looking j pipe that has sectioned concentric baffles still?
if its a X37 than its a stock frame hybrid turbo.

Yes it's an X37, but the pictures looked like the compressor outlet was larger with that welded pipe. If you happen to know I'd appreciate the input.

I noticed from the TB to the driver's side was all silicone, but I couldn't see the cold side elbow. On my list to check next time I'm with the car. Ordered a Mishimoto expansion tank last night and a Borla S-Type to redo the exhaust with since there's only a Depo catless DP and muffler delete at the moment.

Edit: I goofed, I meant the compressor inlet, not outlet. Looks like it's 46mm so the 2.5 that works for the stock turbo size inlet should work I imagine.

Welcome to the machine.

It's Flurida, you do what you want and we just watch it in the nightly news, nightly. Every night. lol
A lot would like to think so, but based on my experience in the legal sector, that's not the case haha.

I don't watch the news, any news on TV, but at work there are several big screens everywhere with Fox, HLN, CNN, & OAN. I'm sure it's just FL has become the butt of wacky criminal news. There were lots of wacky criminals when I grew up in SoFL in the 70's, but we....I mean they, didn't make the news...lol jk...
