Holy sheat Batman!

Fired up my ST today, first time in months, still just 293 miles on the clock.

DIY DP and Exhaust
3" DP with 5" 100 cell metal core cat, 3" outlet.
3" exhaust with the least bends, angles, etc, I know of.
5" diameter round resonator
3" in and out straight through Borla SS packed race muffler.

I thought it might actually be a bit to loud for me but it is quieter than stock!

I built for no drone, great flow, low weight as possible, best flow, etc.....I did not expect this to be so quiet but there are 4 "mufflers" in the system.

Turbo
Cat
Resonator
Muffler

I built a muffler delete pipe for the rack, V band so easy to change, I will test it and might have to run it all the time just so I can hear something at least!

I saw it on ebay a few days ago. I like the burned look, just not the single outlet.

I wonder if I should burn the Mountune exhaust...
I generally dont like single outlet either but its centered, large, and well looks good. I may go this route depending on sound.

My outlet is centered but oval, I bought a Vibrant tip and cut it off at the angle I wanted to match the body and get rid of the rolled and restrictive end.

I spent quite a few hours on a dual with the least restriction only to find I did not like the results as had a problem early on I kept fighting with instead of starting over......I had the Vibrant part so just used it and now really like it. Lower weight, less restriction, oval matches the jelly bean car.....

The car is still waiting on the lift for it's new life, one little suspension part not correct.....but it will not have any drone, I revved it through the drone range, quiet as a mouse all the way through it.

My car is silver, jelly bean mouse is it?

You know, after looking at both the Cobb exhaust and the Injen exhaust on the spool site, does it bother me how the look of the weld is on the injen exhaust? I mean, I know it's probably gonna work just fine, but just look at that godly weld job done to the Cobb exhaust. It looks so good and clean. Then again, I don't know welding very well so I might just be looking at it aesthetically rather than from a functionality perspective.

Great welding does not have to look great, it has to be fused correctly.

Sometimes great looking welds are done so much for looks that the weld itself is weak.

Tue art in welding is great looks and superb fusion.

You cannot judge the quality of the weld by how it looks, you have to cut it open or break it apart and the weld should not break, the metal around it if done right.

I have a neighbor that is a high level Miller instructor that travels all over teaching welders how to use the expensive new commercial systems they just bought, I learned a great deal from him in a few simple lessons and he said he always suspects pretty welds as being weak, many are.

Cobb would not hire crappy welders, they have their parts built by talented guys that can weld pretty welds so no worries, I have never heard of a Cobb weld failing, some may have but it would not be many.

Injen, been around quite some time, good rep, have never heard of a problem weld there either.

COBB's exhaust is very nice. Not too obnoxious at idle but very nice at full throttle. I'll try and get a up very soon. I highly recommend it, couldn't be happier.

And the welds are just sexy.

I agree! Love mine. Do you find it's pretty loud in the cabin when getting on it but almost as quiet as stock at highway speeds in 6th? And then just a nice throaty growl the rest of the time. Also feel like mine mellowed out perfectly over 200 or so miles.

I had a Cobb DP and exhaust on my Forester XT, it made great power, zero drone and just the right amount of noise. As far as I know every other manf had way to much noise, huge drone at the cruise range and made no more power, Cobb does what is called engineering, not just cut, paste, dyno, sell.

Yeah I totally agree. Has a totally different sound in And outside as well. I know there will always be a difference but the sound from outside the car is just fantastic

^^ I saw that. I searched the youtubes and could only find sound clips for the FoST. It definitely sounded good though, for what its worth.

Wow, I didn't think we would have so many options already for the FiST in terms of exhaust. I know that the Regular fiestas have like 5-6 options to choose from. And 2 of them are made by the same brand just with different logos on the muffler.
Dammit, so many choices! Now I don't know which one I want.
