This question is for both of you. But anyone with with experience can answer it as well.

What specs were you guys running on your wheels? 16x7 43 offset? Were you guys rubbing on 215/45/16 tires?

I did one event with my daily driver tires (pilot sport 5). And they’re ain’t gonna cut it.
Sounds like your ride height is too low &/or not enough negative camber. At stock ride height I have 12mm spacers on all 4 corners, my DD setup is 16x7 +43 w/ 215/45. No rubbing at all, ever. I have a few corners nearby that I see everyday with big compressions midway that can nearly bottom out the suspension with 4k/5k spring rates. I ran these same tires on 16x8 +40 on track, no rubbing at all.

A 205/45 or even 195/45 will be lighter, respond sooner and have better lateral grip. I only have a 215 on to protect the wheel from curbs for daily duties.

Actually, I’m still on stock suspension, stock wheels and 205/40/17 tires. I wasn’t rubbing at when I autocross this past Sunday. I wanted to experience the car in stock form before modifying it.

So I decided to buy wheels and tires. I was going to go with 215/45/16 tires. But after reading some threads and posts about ppl rubbing (mostly lowered). It made me wonder if I should go with 16x7 42 offset wheels and 205/45/16 tires instead.

HS limits mods to add negative camber. So I’m currently -1.1° camber in the front.

You should have no issues rubbing with the 215/45/16 on a 16x7 +43, that's what I and most people run in HS.

Yes, that tire size with Enkeis are what I’m running, and what most run. 17s are actually very good if you can get a light option (13-14 lbs a wheel), but they are pricier, as are the tires.

I feel like everyone and their mothers run rfp1’s. So I’m leaning towards oz racing ultraleggera 16x7 42mm.

I know the oz racing stick 1mm more compared to the rfp1. Would that be enough to rub on 215’s?

Back to the original topic … I bought the car July of last year. I did noticed the CoG was high, but not terrible. I’ve driven the car spirited on the streets and freeway and done multiple canyon carvings. And at no point I’ve been scared. The car has felt solid.

This past Sunday was my 1st autocross in like 5 years. Even though I didn’t autocross. I still drove go karts and hit the track occasionally. Maybe because I’m a little bit rusty. Or muscle memory from my past 3 autocross cars. (SMF GTI, CAM-S C6 Corvette, SSP C7 Corvette)

But this car has a shitload of bodyroll and it felt like it was gonna tip. I used ppl’s posts for reference on tire pressures. So I started with 44F AND 39R. I used the chalk trick and the sidewall marker to figure out what worked. And by the end of the day 42F and 32R worked for me. It greatly reduced the tipping sensation and there was no understeer. Idk how some ppl were running with ultra high tire pressures like 50 psi.

Daring to be different - nice.

At the same time, these weigh a bit more, and unsprung mass is very important here. But you do you - either will work well enough.

Who is running 50 psi??? Why would they??? Grip increases with less pressure, unless you're rolling the sidewalls.

Anyways, glad you're experimenting with different pressures to see what works for your set up.
