Curious whether anyone has already installed one of these or similar yet?
In addition to it only being active with radio off (opposite a subwoofer amp), it is best mounted closer to the base of the windshield, preferably at/near the center of the dash.

Yeah the solar standalone modules are all over the market but any halfway competent thief is going to instantly recognize those as fake. In addition, they're incompatible with parking garages and probably heavily clouded days.

I'm suspecting that no one has gone through the trouble.

Assuming the above blinks on its own, the wiring is simple enough to figure out.
* Tap into any Constant 12v.
* Automotive 12v Relay
* Mini-Fuse, Fuse Tap Holder
* F17 for Passenger Compartment Fuse Block
(memory serving, historic pseudo standard for overall parasitic draw on the battery with vehicle off shouldn't exceed 0.06A, though newer model cars may take an hour to drop down to that level)
The relay would be wired to switch on 12v power to the LED when 12v power ceases from F17.

The real question comes down to mounting locations and steps or guidance for installation?

NO WAY would I ever install them..... I'm not aware of any factory auto systems that actually flash other than inside a store. Same for dummy security cams around a house - the flashing light is dead giveaway. Not that I've gone creeping around houses...lol I've seen them online.

@flbchbm - The aftermarket alarm I had in my prior care had a flashing red light. My Mom's totally stock Toyota has one. I've seen them with other family and neighbors' cars/SUVs/CUVs. Not unusual. We're talking about vehicles, not domiciles.

BTW, I already have the passenger fuse block F17 (heated seats) fuse tapped as a remote turn-on for the audio amplifier.

@fiiiesta - Also incorrect.
<<............... Thefts from vehicles are high on the list of most-reported crimes in the city, said Sgt. Brian Peabody of the Springfield Police Division’s property crimes unit.
“It’s what the suspects or thieves feel is an easy target,” Peabody said. .............

You forget, many thieves are themselves, fools. Most often the key is simply not to be the easiest mark. But at the same time, don't be sdubid enough to leave things in plain sight or "advertise" or "floss", etcetera...

EDIT: BTW I have a caliper alarm lock on my motorcycle. Recently some idiot, not looking for it, decided to try to force the ignition lock. Only after the alarm went off, did the fool then abandon the attempt. If you don't know, a caliper lock prevents the motorcycle from being ridden... period. My evidence of the attempt was a damaged ignition lock. The lesson, VISIBILITY is an important factor if you want to PREVENT damage. As mentioned, many thieves themselves, are fools.

As a fool myself, I automatically expect any car made in the 21st century to have an alarm. I definitely wouldn't expect a bike to have an alarm of any kind. Are there even any cars being made these days that don't have alarms?

The more I think about it, yes, there are many cars that have a flashing light integrated into the dash or the light sensor under the windshield. They are normally subtle, not the "hey look at me, I'm a fake aftermarket light". Shows how much I notice them. And honestly, when one goes off anywhere I am, except my neighborhood, I never look around, sadly.

As Fiiesta said, they almost all modern cars have alarms these days. As Intuit said, stow/stash your things... in the 6 mile radius where I live, 2:30-4:30 am walkups to check unlocked cars is extremely bad. A 9pm lockup is constantly advertised. In my old age, I do the car/garage/shed lockup check every night bc I'm getting forgetful. I just need to do it before work. I left my HOUSE unlocked yesterday while at work...my alarm system would have gone off though and cameras caught something. It picks up the squirrels, fox, rabbit, fox and tomcat that stroll through my breezeway. I think I've posted them in the Backyard Creatures thread. (the hand-fed chipmunks I have).

Ever heard of smash and grab? This is still a problem because factory alarms generally don't have shock sensors. (...and for good reason - what they need to do is run a clear conductive trace through each window) Caliper locks on sport bikes are quite common.

Thats why its a good idea to get the upgraded factory alarm setup if you live in such an area. I cant recall if the fiesta had a higher spec alarm as an option however. But i do see it on websites for other makes and models all the time.
