I have a nearly stock 2019 Fiesta ST that has an MBRP exhaust on it that I find annoying. The car had only 24k on it when I bought it so the aftermarket exhaust puzzled me. I have never heard an ST with a stock exhaust ! (I have a Thermal RD 3” exhaust on my modded ST and like it but would like something mellower for the stocker). This car will probably never need a larger exhaust. Unfortunately, piecing together a new stock exhaust is ridiculously expensive and I have no idea whether it would be any “better” (mellower ? Less “droney” ?). There are a few used stock ones around in decent shape But not sure if it’s worth the effort. Thoughts ?

The stock exhaust is way quieter than any aftermarket exhaust. It's very pleasant. none of the aftermarket exhausts provide any performance improvement over the stock on an unmodified car. If you can pick up an undamaged used exhaust from someone who took it off because they wanted a noisemaker, it would be worthwhile. And you might be able to find someone to sell the MBRP to.

I like mine with the stock exhaust. The engine sounds good without any added exhaust noise to overpower it. It’s enjoyable like a motorcycle where you really hear the intake sounds.

Thank you. That is what I suspected. Too bad a new one is so rIdiculous. I even tried AutoNation Ford White Bear Lake who often sold me GT350 parts well below other Ford dealers but no luck with the ST.

lots of folks run exhausts. I’m surprised you can’t find a used one nearby. I have an extremely low mileage stock exhaust for a 2004-2007 CTS-V if that helps you out at all.

Some of the smaller (less than 3" diameter) aftermarket systems are almost as quiet, and drone free as the factory system, and noticeably quieter than the Thermal on Dpro's old car.

I do not remember which ones they were though.

Maybe someone will chime in with the answer (FS Werks, or Borla, maybe??)

Thanks for that comment. I’d be open to a quieter aftermarket system if it wasn’t even more than a new OEM. I’ve been watching for a used one but the only one I’m currently aware of is one on eBay in Wash state but it is only the front and rear pipes and he wants $600 plus shipping. Pretty sure you can buy new for those two pieces for less, some of the online Ford dealers have reduced pricing (Tasca, Lakeland, Lesco, etc.) but you have to be careful, the shipping can be killer. Anyone know of a Ford dealer out West that discounts like those eastern dealers ? (My experience with western Ford dealers has been universally dismal. Have bought my last 3 new Fords from midwest/eastern dealers and saved substantial $$$, drove them home).

Update: currently, the rear OEM muffler is on indefinite backorder. When I checked, there was only a single part at a dealer in the whole US. Online Ford dealers list them as available and will take your $ and then tell you they're on backorder. Several local to me dealers have verified that the original manufacturer that made them for Ford no longer does and that Ford is looking for an alternatve supplier (this started sometime in late Nov). The front “muffler” (that’s what Ford calls it !) resonator is also on backorder but I was told they’re still being made, it just takes time to get one (I was quoted 3wks to a month). Fortunately for me, I kept scouring all the usual online sources (eBay, Facebook Marketplace, etc.) and came across a guy near PHX who had 2 complete sets of pipes for a very reasonable price, both with low mileage although on one someone had cut the resonator out of the front pipe and substituted a cutout. The owner said this put the noise level between the OEM and an aftermarket system and he thought it was pleasant. I bought both and the unmolested set will go on my “stockish” car. I have a line on a front resonator in great shape that I’m trying to buy to restore the second system to complete stock. So, as was suggested by isis, if you want a quieter exhaust and look long enough, there are some used ones out there to be had. Or you can wait for Ford to catch up with demand; that will run you around $500 - 600 with discounts for both pipes but be sure to check shipping costs along with the parts pricing.

Are you perhaps interested in a trade, I live in the Phoenix area and have a stock exhaust, looking for some different noise during my drives
