I know I had promised to post more details on the upcoming Fiesta ST Ethanol Content Gauge. I am very pleased with the way it is turning out, but this project has become a HUGE undertaking. As some of you may know, I do not have any employees. I do everything from tuning to printing shipping labels, all while still working a 9-5. So this gauge has taken up a LOT of my time, and I wanted to thank everyone for their patience over these last few months. I am happy to report that I am finalizing the drawing for the faceplate, and then will start production shortly after! I am super excited to release this for you guys!
With that being said, over these last few months I have received a lot of inquiries about how the gauge will work, what will be included, and what the price will be. So I feel that now may be a good time to discuss the installation and pricing.
The Ethanol Content Gauge is designed to work with a GM Flex Fuel sensor Part Number 13577429. There are 3 wires that are utilized for this sensor; Power, Ground and a Signal output. My Ethanol Content Gauge is designed to function off these same wires. So the unit needs to be powered up, and then receive the signal from the sensor and it will accurately display both ethanol content and fuel temperature on the OLED display panel (0.96”). Power will be picked up from an add-a-circuit behind the passenger glove box compartment. Ground can be sourced from the same area. So the harness is as simple as running the 3-conducter cable from the sensor under the hood, through the firewall, and up to the back of the display in the cubby. Then power can be connected like mentioned above. The fuel lines for the ethanol sensor will be plug and play to adapt to the oem lines. I have confirmed fitment on all USDM 2014-2018 Fiesta ST. The sensor will be mounted to the plastic ECU cover (next to the battery) with a custom 3D printed bracket.
The display is designed to mount into your original cubby in front of the shifter, with only a very little modification. One very small hole will need to be drilled in the back of the cubby, and a screw will be used to hold the gauge pod in the cubby securely. Then a slightly larger hole will need to be drilled next to it (also in the back), for the harness to exit. This will be up to the user to install, but will be very simple, with easy to follow directions.
I am pushing for a 4/1/2019 release date, but do not want to promise/rush anything. I am currently trying to get all the parts ordered, and then it will also take a lot of labor to get everything assembled, tested and ready to ship. I thought about doing a pre-sale, and collect a deposit for the first batch of 25 units, but have decided against it. When the units are ready for sale, they will be sold on a first-come first-serve basis. I will be updating this page with more details, as they become available.
I have also decided that I am going to offer two different options when purchasing:
Complete ECG Kit - $399 with FREE shipping
(display, sensor and lines)
ECG Gauge Only - $199 with FREE shipping
(display with short harness for custom install)
Please feel free to leave any comments or suggestions about the gauge! I am looking forward to its release!
