Anyone here running e85? Best fuel I can get in Vegas is 91. I am going to get a pro tune from RRE soon but not sure if our cars can run e85.
I heard a rumor montune was developing a map for e85 but not sure if it ever happened.

Thanks!

Randy has people testing for him with E30/E50/E85 tunes ( I believe, I don't want to speak for him ).

I personally have run E30 in my car 2 times and it ran great. Basicly, the hardware can handle the eth. Can the pumps deliver enough volume for E85 ? We don't know... Maybe. Not likely. But I'm betting E50 will be perfectly fine WITH A TUNE.

I personaly will run E30 again. And again. Some people disagree with this, which is fine :) but I'm giving my personal experience.

I mix 93oct with E85.

Do your research and go from there to determine if E85 is what you want to use. Also, I am not sure if your factory warranty is an issue. Here is link you might find helpful relative to using E85 in a "non-E85" designed vehicle: http://www.change2e85.com/servlet/Page?template=Myths NOTE: I am not endorsing and I'm not involved in the company that sells the conversion kit highlighted at that link.

There is a video floating around of a ford suit saying the hardware is there, its just not tuned for E85. Maybe a stock car with an E85 tune could work, but a car making 280tQ on E85 is going to require a lot of fuel volume. The stock system may or may not able to supply that flow on a modded car.

I personally think E50 is going to be perfect. 99octane and $3.50 a gallon to make !!

The guy in the video actually posts in the thread said "You the car can run E85, but the tune is up to you". I'll track down the thread in a minute and post it.

EDIT: Found the post: http://fiestast.net/threads/can-the-fiesta-st-run-on-e85.205/#post-2250

This is the thread that starts with the video, and the post I'm linking to is the guy in the video. Here's what he says (if you're too lazy to click the link)

"The bit referencing E85.....that section was regarding the 1.6 ecoboost in general which is used across model lines. In other vehicle applications, it is calibrated to run E85 but we didn't do this for the ST. I suspect all the hardware would be ok but you're on your own cal-wise."

I know 100% I want to use e85. I just want to know if anyone else has used it on our stock fuel systems. Also if the ran into any problems when running e85. My car has 3k miles and it fully bolted with suspension and wheels on its way. So the warranty has been voided a while ago . Hahaha
My mr2 was e85 and I had to upgrade pump, injectors, fuel lines, and fpr/rail. My buddies and I all ran e85 and love it.

Man if we had 93 I would be happy but its either 91 or e85. I believe one station has 100 but I don't have that kind of money to spend of fuel every week.

im interested in e85. i run it my my WRX. i had to upgrade pump and injectors though to handle it. i installed a bigger turbo, more boost so e85 helped.

with the stock turbo, my guess is running e85 is of limited value. the turbo cant be turned up much more with reliability so you cant get much more boost out of the little thing which is the major place e85 pays off since it has anti -det properties.

the only real value i see for e85 with the stock turbo is it will run cooler which may pay off if you track your car.

the only way to really tell if e85 pays off is to install a bigger turbo with supporting intercooler and turbo back, put it on a dyno, and start testing while upping the boost and seeing if it runs lean towards the top. since i have not looked at access tuner race for the fist, i dont know whether or not injector duty cycle and percent pump (if there is such a thing) are available for logging. but thats how you test with e85. if you run out of fueling capability you will run lean and pop your motor in a heart beat. assuming the pump is the weak area it will take a special mod i think since the pump is run off a cam on the camshaft i think. for bigger injectors if needed, i wonder if you can replace the fist st with fost st injectors. DIJ is not as easy to upgrade as port injection systems.

The main benefit of E30/E50/e85 will be ignition timing advance. We already can get away with 23.5psi boost pressures without Exx. But we can't run full timing advance with 23.5psi. Its... 23.5psi with low timing (loses topend) or 20.5psi with lots of timing (loses bottom/mid range).

With E50 or E85 you could run both... 23.5psi and high timing.

Yes sir! On my tune now I am on 22psi. I just want to run a better fuel like e85 than 91.
We don't have e50 only e85.

I'll be tuning my FiST on blends of Ethanol to see how much I can get away with. Expect a thread about it soon.

All my other cars run strictly on E85. I was the first Evo tuner in Northern California to move to E85 about 6 years ago and tuned a ton of customers on it over the years from 300whp to 700whp. I have a good amount of experience in it but the Ford platform is totally new to me.

Should be fun!

Was the EVO E85 compatible from the factory or did you have to do some upgrading?

Just uprated injectors and fuel pump to deal with the extra fuel volume. Depending on turbo size is how big you uprate. :)

Are you using Cobb accesstuner to adjust the tune? Or just running ethanol blends with normal tunes?
Or something else?

Even if you could buy E50 at the pump, you would not want it. It would be e85 mixed with 85 or 87oct. You want E85 mixed with 93oct. Only way to get that is to mix it yourself :)
