DP to Cat-back Compatibility?

Looking to buy a cat-back exhaust, currently considering MBRP. Just wondering about different DP options for a 3" exhaust, Cobb and Mountune DP's seem to lack information about whether the flange is suitable for 2.25", 2.5" or 3". I'm only wondering as I've seen some people mention having issues with aftermarket DP to cat-back fitment when using dissimilar brands.

Cheers.

The MBRP retains the factory-sized 2.5" flange for mating to the stock downpipe. All aftermarket downpipes that I know of (aside from cp-e's that I believe comes with an adapter for a true 3" fatback flange) have a 2.5" flange, so there shouldn't be any sort of fitment issue with a stock-fitment catback exhaust.

I've been wondering this exact question for some time, but haven't asked because I'm not in the market quite yet for either a DP or an exhaust. Makes one wonder, is there even a point to get a 3" exhaust if your DP necks down to 2.5"...

It has been stated that particularly with the stock turbo, any gain that comes from replacing the downpipe/rest of the exhaust is negligible. The turbo is the primary restriction in the system. Any exhaust work without a bigger turbo is going to be primarily for the pleasant sounds. :)
