It always amazes me how non rust-belt care are so clean underneath! Good idea for the tow hook, not in the way, but easy to access when needed.
Would be even better if not for a year of daily driver duty in the Indiana slush mess!

First HPDE in this car at Grid Life at Carolina Motorsports Park. Car did great, although the standard spring rate BC coils definitely aren’t a track first coil over. Shout out to @Fusion Works for helping me dial in the rebound and tire pressures.

First HPDE in this car at Grid Life at Carolina Motorsports Park. Car did great, although the standard spring rate BC coils definitely aren’t a track first coil over. Shout out to @Fusion Works for helping me dial in the rebound and tire pressures.

Interested to know more about your experience using the BC coilovers. Are you alluding to the spring rate, travel, damping?

I got one pic of you on track in the morning before I left. Sorry it looks like it was shot from space, I was in the trailer when you went hy and I realized you were on track.

That Factory Five (?) is sick!
Almost too pretty to take out on track.

Built Coyote in it, or??
It is indeed a factory five. My dad and I built it together when I was in high school and he’s been cruising around and tracking it for 15 years now. It has the 429 from his first car that he kept for almost 30 years - a ‘71 Thunderbird.

I love my BCs with 8k front and 6k rear for track. They’re a bit stiff on the street for my liking but the good thing is they’re designed to work within 4k of spring rate changes. I originally ran 6k front 4k rear which was perfect for dual purpose use but as I’ve gotten faster and added functional arep, the increased spring rate was a necessity to keep them off the bump stops on track. I’ve only had one rear blow from a heavy curb strike but BC overnighted me a new one without any issues. Apparently I was the only one to blow one on the Fiesta at that time so they’re definitely reliable. Zero issues since… A single click in any direction makes a noticeable difference and you have 30 to play with. Definitely a great option. I’ll probably go with their digressive setup when my BRs finally wear out but they’ve been fantastic.

Well shit, I haven’t updated this thread in a while. Not a ton to update on. After the track day at Grid Life, I inspected the car for any issues. Found a very small amount oil and coolant on the turbo, so I pulled it to investigate. The amount leaking was negligible and came from my own laziness in not replacing the crush washers on the install. Everything is in good shape, but in the interest of time I put the 2860 kit back on because I needed to get the car through its annual state inspection.

6+ months later I’m still on the base map from Westley @ Phul. Time to play with the car is pretty much zero lately and it’s slow as hell at only 14 lbs of boost lol. One of these days I’ll get to WV to dyno tune with him. Hopefully this summer when my wife, who is a teacher, is off work.

Other news, bought a new to us family hauler. 2003 Escalade ESV with the 6.0 and full time 4WD. 52k miles. It was the 9th brand new Caddy purchased by the old guy who died, allowing me to acquire it. Mechanically perfect but a few electrical gremlins as expected with a 20+ year old American car. Currently at the Caddy dealership letting them sort those out and do a few preventative things like axle seals and fresh fluids all around. The dealership did a pre-purchase inspection for me and said “no charge for the inspection, but will you entertain an offer to sell it to us?” Sounds like I found a gem.

Tinted the windows and windshield already. Some 22s and a sub in the trunk and I’ll be ready to roll for many years.

Ah, the good old ThunderJet engine... Have one of those sitting at my folks place for a 72 Mustang, but thinking it would be too nose heavy.

It’s a monster. The only thing left original is the block which has been total redone and a heavily modified crank but it’s well over 500hp/500tq without working hard at all. In the cobra it’s a 52/48 weight distro because even with such a huge engine it’s all behind the front axle. Hilarious to drive in a car that weighs about 100 lbs less than my fiesta. In a Mustang I suspect it would be too front heavy unless you push the firewall and mounts back quite a bit.
