Yeah im at the same dilemma as I already have the Mishimoto oil cooler and my DHM crash bar and race cooler are in the mail as we speak. Once I have all the parts here and the car apart I will post up my mounting solution. I'm thinking of using flat stock to connect the oil cooler mounting tabs to the tabs on the intercooler for the airbag sensors. I'll have to test this once I have everything here though. DHM also sent me a link to some clams that would fit the crash bar that I could use for mounting as well. I'll update as I install stuff and get an idea of mounting.
Any extra weight bouncing around on the airbag sensor could cause the airbags to go off randomly down the road. FYI...

So I'm not trying to reinvent the wheel right away, has anyone installed the Mountune splitter with the Dhm race bar? I just received mine and didn't realize it has a middle support rod on it that is supposed to use an existing hole on the underside of the oem crash beam to mount to.

I believe I've figured out a way to still use the supplied rod if I can find the right parts at Lowes or Gnome Depot.

The rod is too short to attach to the DHM crash bar. I left mine off. I plan on getting longer rods and attaching them to the body and the Mountune splitter when I paint the splitter. I guess you could extend the Mountune rod, but it's a poor fix.

The splitter looks nice but for $300, steep considering it's not painted or anything
They had/have a sale going. About 250 shipped for the splitter. Fits great and looks really good.... And of course I was looking for another reason to remove the front bumper.... again! I've had the bumper off this car 4 times now. Doesn't take long anymore.

I wouldn't want it painted. It'll just stone chip quickly. Looks good as is and later I'll probably plastidip it and just freshen it up occasionally.

I was able to use a threaded rod from Lowes to cut down into the right length and then I doubled up nuts on it for stops to tighten down things where the needed to be. I used thread locker as well. The threaded rod comes in 1 ft and 3 ft lengths. Buy the 3 ft length and cut it down with a dremel to the appropriate length. The rod is about $1.40 and I'd suggest nuts with nylon inserts so they won't move and you won't need to bother with thread locker. Get a couple washers as well. Black hardware would be nice, but not readily available most likely. You can shoot it real quick with paint if wanted. I'm going to just slip some black tubing or something over the threaded rod when I find the right size and it'll be finished.

The below pic is the top of the rod where the radiator top support arm comes down and it connects to the dhm bar's provided tab.

Above pic is the underside of the splitter.

My version of what I plan on installing

The reason they attach it to the bumper beam is because the beam doesn't move. You can grab and move your entire front bumper cover so if you attach the splitter to that it won't be as rigid as intended. I didn't want it to flex when catching the wind at highway speeds up or down.

If you could find one of those support Rods that is adjustable up to about 13" then it would save you from having to make one like I did.

I plan on punching through the bumper and attaching to the crash bar. These struts have left hand threads for adjustment and easy removal, and can be purchased in lengths up to 20"

That'll definitely work if you have an easy way to attach them to the bar, and should look pretty good.

I plan on using pipe brackets so I do not need to drill the crash bar, most likely aluminum.

I really like how those look. Keep a list of the pieces you use. I may have to go that route too when I get around to getting a splitter.

Great write up Vegas. Seems like the only mod you needed to do then was buying and cutting down the threaded bar correct? Only thing I don't like about this is you have to put a hole through the bumper. I guess though if the splitter is permanent, that doesn't matter. That mountune sale has me tempted though I really shouldn't spend the money right now. That rod doesn't pull or tweak anything? Do you think it would rub on the plastic crossbars? I don't like them off as you have them so that would be my concern. I'm so tempted now!

It is fitted just like it would be if you used the support it came with, meaning the only holes are the same ones that there would be if you still had the original crash beam. So yup, only thing I had to do was get that Rod and some nuts to fit it and cut it to size. I couldn't find an easy way to extend the Rod it came with. I think it would work fine with the rest of the plastic grill in there. I can test fit it when I get a chance. Sitting at the rehearsals for the country music awards all day today because the gf is into country music and a friend works for CBS. After 8 hours I'll either like it or want to kill myself too. The rod just barely touches the lower bumper edge where the plastic cross bars are, but it's no big deal. You can check it out sometime if you want. Use the code Gomountune or Easter16 to order one and see if the discount still works.
