cyclinder head/exhaust

Hi all,

I'm just wondering about the ST head.
can someone explain the part circled in white on the exhaust side, what does the chamber do?, is it linked to EGR valve( my EGR valve is blocked off with a plate)

my thinking is to block the chamber (red line)off, this should help exhaust gas flow and match the other three ports, this I'm thinking should gain overall power.

would this work or have I totally missed something ?

This is in regards to the ST150 with the 2.0L naturally aspirated engine.

Cylinder head part number: RF3S4G-6090-AA

It very much looks like an EGR thing.

And seeing as the stock ST150 manifold just blocks it off, I'd think it wouldn't hurt to block it off.

Hi, yes ST150
just thinking it would help with power, as that surely must be confusing the exhaust gases on that cylinder?.

I have no experience with that platform, nor fluid dynamics. But my best guess is, the less turbulence, the better. And that branch in the exhaust very much looks like nothing but turbulence.

What you might see in actual performance gains might be very slight.

Is the port even going anywhere?

Hi, thanks for the reply, yes the port goes threw to a blanked off EGR valve.
