I have a question about winter usage. Twice already this year, I have had to effectively plow the road with my car, snow flying over the windshield as I try to make it to the highway. Does anyone know if the bottom intake hangs lower than the other parts and pieces of the front end? Can I anticipate it dragging and/or plugging with snow? How hard would it be to pull the bottom pipe and plug the opening for winter if it does end up being a problem?
This is a good question.
The scoop sits a good amount above the bumper line. It is also adjustable if you want to move it up, and it is removable if you don't want to run it.
the best part is, even if it gets plugged with snow or something, there is still another entrance for air to get into the box. Even if water gets in, it will drain and won't be picked up by the filter (unless the whole box is submerged, but then you have bigger problems).
I havent removed or had to adjust it on my car. Ive driven in snow going all the way to the upper grille (about 2' if I remember correctly) on the front bumper and it didn't get into the intake. This is nothing to worry about with this intake.
I REALLY do apologize for the delay for the 2016 version. I have had a few customers that bought other adapters and used them on the 2014-2015 intake with success (the intake is essentially the same). We have been testing different solutions for the 2016 intake adapter and we are determined to find one that works. We are trying to log as many miles as possible on the solution, as we have put over 500 miles on it before we got a CEL. This CEL doesn't pop up immediately, which is prolonging testing significantly. We are sending out a second prototype so we can test on two cars at once so that we can make this go quicker. Again, apologies for the delay.
Also, Ron at Whoosh motorsports, a good friend of ours, is doing a group buy on the intake for those interested and we will be working with him on a few custom options and will be available for 2016 cars.
