Take a look at the pictures I posted of the Cordova throttle body... I'm sure you can do something better...
Yeah, no doubt Adam can do something a bit nicer than that. That looks a bit ummm, "rough". I used to bore, replate and knife edge carburators back when I was racing Kawasaki pwc so this isn't rocket science. [scratch]

Basically you are paying $60.00 for 45 minutes worth of work. That transitional area (knife edging of the inlet) ain't that great either. With another 45 minutes you'd have yourself a real "optimized" TB. [;)]

Yeah, that's the plan.. I got time to work this while the LSD is getting installed...

Let me know what you come up with Adam. I want to try it on my car with your tune. [:p]

Yikes, that is pretty rough...
Sourskittles - I'll take that TB if you are ok with it.
I would like to see what you can do with it. I could see some good benifit from it being done well.

The top picture is the underside of the modded throttle body, you can see the uneven shaving/cut.
The middle picture is what the factory Fiesta throttle body (I know it's an older model but you get the idea)
Then on the Cordova throttle body you can see where the center shaft is cut (badly) and flush screws set...
I'll probably just clean this up with my dremel...
So they just half-shafted it. (And half-assed it).

If we're getting into laminar flow separation based on edge design I feel I should start participating in the conversation.

Got mine in the mail, and yeah it could've been a cleaner cut on the shaft, but you cannot argue that the thing has less obstruction in the air path. I may opt to remove the intake manifold rather than working beneath the car.

Just a thought but if you're going to remove the IM and TB anyways you may consider installing the Boomba spacers on both. Though it would skew the results, it would surely add more power.

Since you have the TB in your hand, you could also use a cheap dremel setup to smooth the cut out and maybe even polish things if you wanted....

Ok, new "optimized" TB installed and admittedly, I can't feel a difference. I may re-connect the sound symposer because I removed that POS at the same time, and am getting accustomed to not hearing the cabin noise. Also, I only have about 2300 miles on the car, and may not be have the most sensitive butt dyno. I did however drive the car up to a new personal best top speed of 140MPH (as shown on GPS). In summary, nothing conclusive for positive or negative, but I made a mistake by removing the symposer at the same time as installing the Cordova TB....

I'm not even sure datalogs would really show any gains... Maybe lbs per min on the maf if the logs were done like 2 hours within each other at night or something....
