Compressor surge types.

Hey there everyone! I was curious is closed compressor surge can turn into Open compressor surge with time??

I've been doing research however I haven't came up with anything to answer my question.

From what I gather open throttle compression surge is something to be worried about. Closed isn't going to destroy the turbo Open will.
