I beg to differ... The fiesta ST is 500 lbs lighter, better steering geometry, better balanced and more agile. This is why the FIST absolutely rocks in the tight stuff, canyon back roads and in the rally circuit. The FOST might be better in a long straight line or on a very wide open track with minimal turns, but the FIST will eat it for breakfast in the corners. The FOST is just to overweight and can't contain its power or oversteer in the corners. In other words a 300lb torque FIST will always out gun a 300lb torque FOST. If you start getting beyond 300-350lbs FOST range you have a wheel spinning mess of a car.

Spinning tires get you no where...
I agree and let me correct myself. When I said faster I did indeed mean in a straight line. I'm a drag racing guy lol

I absolutely agree a fiesta has all the tools to be a better car on the track, which is why I purchased one :)

To be honest... I don't get this original post. Seriously a stage 3 FIST equal to a stock FOST? It would not even be close. Stock FISTs are faster than stock FOSTs in certain situations like tight tracks. So why in the world would you even think a stock FOST 500lbs heavier with only 275 lbs of torque going to take a full moded stage 3 FIST? Mine is sitting at around 300lbs torque and at stage 3 on E40 and it's not even tuned perfectly.

Because in the automotive world comparisons come naturally? [wink]

just to throw my 2 cents lol
I've raced a stage 1 FoST at cecil dragway many times, nice guy btw. I'm on stage 3 OTS tuned, with close 60' times 2.2-2.3 we run about 0.10-0.15 in time the FoST being faster. I usually run a constant 14.41-14.5

Yes I agree, and this car can be made to go fast! I do think we have one of the most fun and balanced cars to be produced, and certainly one of the quickest. It's not a fast car tho.

Fist wins in almost every way except straight line hp
I thoroughly disagree because I own both and can drive them back-to-back on a daily basis, but I have no need to feel like one is better than the other either.

Everyone has different goals for their car. Some want to be the fastest in a straight line, some on a track, some don't care and just want a fun cruiser.
Agreed. I could care a less about being the fastest going in a straight line. I love the Fiesta ST because it performs well as a street car. I love the acceleration (kick in the @ss) down low in the powerband, but not necessarily as a pure drag car. I love how tight and connected the FiST is to the road, especially the feedback the steering wheel returns to the driver in the "twisties", but not necessarily because it's a great autocross or closed course platform. I love the Fiesta ST because it can do all this and still return awesome gas mileage, without compromising the sharp edges that makes this a true "drivers" car.
