Clutch slipping?

Were their bolts too long?? Certainly looks that way. Its as if the clutch disc was bottomed out on the bolts and once it wore some material down it started slipping. Like it wasnt allowed to evwr fully clamp down like its supposed to.

That grease is clutch material and steel feom the bolt heads. And the pressure plate looks all hot spotted up.
Just to double check, the clutch disc was put in the correct way right? And those flywheel bolts are oem ones?

Id clean up the surfaces with brake clean. And a scotch brite pad. Just to be sure.

We had a tech at our shop install a clutch backwards in a Volvo class 8 truck one time. It caused $3,500 worth of damage to brand new parts. The clutch he installed had some writing on it, "FLYWHEEL SIDE", lol. He no longer works for the shop.

You got lucky in this case.

I am wondering if the AP Racing built ST200 clutch is the best way to go nowadays, for multiple reasons.

IF we are to believe the stampings on the parts, even our factory clutch parts are made by AP, but the ST200 is supposed to be uprated/stronger (and hopefully better longevity as well) friction material, and pressure plate strength.

It'll be OEM for me for a while, I don't see a reason in changing...
