So you buy the AP from Mountune, choose your options from the right of the screen and they load the custom tune to your AP from those chooses? Or do you have to buy the $150 Mountune's optimized thing?

You choose your options and its like an OTS+ (off the shelf plus) map or you can drop the extra $150 and randy will customize your tune based on datalogs recorded on the AP from your car.

So you have the "options map" you made when you buy the AP, plus you can still download Cobb's maps from their website when they release them? Or are you locked from Cobb's maps and can only use Mountune's map?

Nope you can use any map meant for your AP. I have all of Cobb's maps, my mountune ots+ map, and my custom mountune map on my AP right now.

So the OTS+ map is made up from the options given on the site, correct? And then you have to purchase the $150 program from Mountune to get Randy's tune? Or can you just contact him after you buy from Mountune?

Sorry for all the questions, just trying to understand this. I have an AP but not from Mountune. So I want to understand all this before I try to sell mine and buy from Mountune.

And can you give me a run down of all the maps? How they compare and what other mods you're running if you don't mind. Thank you!

Yes everything in that first paragraph is correct, after you purchase the custom tune for 150 I think they send you an email. Pretty much the mountune custom tune is a little better than the mountune ots+ is a little better than Cobb ots. I got the custom free because of a promo when it was released but I would pay 150 for it. I don't have many mods, just intake and a catback but its definitely a big improvement with the tune and I will pay for a retune once I get a dp and an intercooler. Definitely best bang for buck power mod at $150. Haven't used any other tuners though so I can't compare there

Okay, so the optimized package is pretty much you getting the Randy specific tune for your car? Even more specific than the option one you make when you buy the AP, correct?

Correct, he has you take a couple datalogs with your AP and email them to him and he'll use the ots+ map as a base and tweak it a few times and optimize for your specific setup

Okay, got it. And then lets say I buy an intake I just email him and get a new tune specific made to those new and existing mods from Randy?

Yeah so you have 45 days to tune and tweak it and then after that you have to pay another 150 I think. So for example my 45 days has passed so when I get an intercooler I'll have to pay for a retune. So if you plan on doing more mods it might be wise to live with the ots+ until you install your intake THEN shell out the 150 for a custom tune.

Oh okay, that makes sense. But I can buy the AP now, live with the OTS+ map then when I get an intake and intercooler, just buy the $150 tune and get the Randy tune? Okay, nice.

And quick question, when choosing the shift assist on their page would I choose disabled or stock, to get rid of the rev hang? Because I remember some people saying stock didn't have the rev hang but I would assume the disabled option means it won't have it.

And when it's asking about launch control will it be the same launch control procedure as Cobb's? Or does Mountune have it's own way to engage it?

Someone else might have to answer those two questions because I got tuned before either of those options were available.

Okay, thank you for the other help.

That's another thing; what if I want the OTS+ map from Mountune running but want flat foot shifting also? I can't run two maps at once, unless the Mountune maps run off the current Cobb runs, which include those features.

I believe FFS and LC are now std on all COBB AP tunes unless you have your tuner turn them off if that is possible after you get the AP and make contact with Randy If you get a Mountune COBB AP that is . Ask him about a FMIC and what to do when you do get it and if he will give you a updated tune then. He is a great guy to work with and does go the extra mile for you (not saying others don't I just have worked with him and have seen it in action with my car.)

Okay, so do you know about the shift assist option when making your OTS+ map on Mountune? It's either disabled or stock. I was hearing from some people though that stock was holding revs but that sounds the same as the disabled option.

I just want to make sure before I purchase this that I have all the options correct.

I think they can set it up anyway you want if the v104 maps are not to your liking.. provided you get a tune from Randy that is.

Update: Just got my AP from Randy & Mountune today. Had a little hiccup, not caused by Randy but by the firmware. I called him and he talked me through it and everything to great. I now have a 8 hour drive to the Outer Banks in the car so I really be able to test out the new tune.

Just to clarify here and keep things accurate, we don't charge an extra $150 for mountune custom programming. When you buy the AP from mountune you get 45 days to work with me on any custom programming you'd like to have done. And that is a FREE service that doesn't cost anything extra. You just need to buy the AP from mountune; we charge $500 and it comes with free shipping. It's a good deal since you get all of the Cobb OTS files, too. :)
