Wow that's great! Where did you get the bottom half?

Just stainless steel pipe, flexpipe, o2 bungs, and collector you can buy either online or at a local metal shop. Cost in pats was around $50-$60 or so

I have done it and wow does it free up power. And it still passes smog.

NICE! [twothumb]

Great way to keep the factory style (ceramic honeycomb??) catcon, while increasing flow.

I'm guessing this will not do anything (power-wise) on the factory baby snail, correct?

You found a shop near you that can weld stainless, or you did it yourself?

Cool!

My idea was a bit different, inlet and outlet side but mostly on the cat inlet side it is very crimped and offset far to one side so I bet there is more improvement yet in that area.

Yes, the top part didn't seem like a bottle neck when holding it in person and measuring it out as both the wastegate and exhaust turbine wheel are smaller then the immediate area where it turns down. So little gains to be had with that. Plus I was making power equivalent to those with highflow/catless downpipes with this set up. Why do more work then needed?

Also in california this is technically legal since the modifications were done after the cat. Modifying the the part before the cat would technically be illegal ;)

WOW, really??

So sue me because I cannot keep up with, nor remember with all of the different hairdryer setups all of the thousands of individual members have on this site (and it's NOT on a sig mod list since Pete does NOT have one).

I thought he had a hybrid, or smaller BT setup, hence why he even bothered to do this fabrication, since the majority consensus on here is that an aftermarket down pipe does NOTHING AT ALL for power gains on a factory snail.

WHY do you insist on dissing/putting down every/anyone you can on here, even for the most minute 'transgression'?
I just do not 'get' that. [nono]

Actually I follow pete's YT channel and he makes shit look effortless, I could never do all that lol.

I just like to give people a hard time, it's all in good fun;-)

You are too kind. I try to include the hard parts of installs in the videos, unlike CJ pony parts. Motor build will be happening soon.
Also Hybrid turbo on my car, x37. Although this C39 looks very promising (to keep things back on track)

I have been trying to work through a busted rear motor mount stud (it gave out on an aggressive 1-2 upshift with the Cobb RMM), and my car has been sitting in the garage for over a month! Long story, but should be up and running very soon.

I have been following this thread and I am excited at how many options we have for a reasonably priced power upgrade. This FiST platform keeps getting more and more fun, and I'm looking forward to when at least 5 people have installed the C39 and are utilizing E30 in order to see what power they are making.

Anyone who installs a C39 in Houston PM me and let's meet up and compare X37 vs C39

I'm currently working with my 2nd tuner since my first one couldn't sort out the tune the way I had hoped. There are currently already 5 or 6 of these tuned and on the road. Don't know of anyone other than myself who has posted any dyno or vdynos of their set ups on e-30.

Glad it's working out and I look forward to reading the reviews. I don't want to divert this thread, and read my new thread in maintenance and trouble shooting. [dunno]

Nope
Does it matter what BOV I get if I want to run this turbo? I want to get the Turbosmart Plumb Back one for the flutter sound but I'm wondering if I should get it because I might want to get the c39 in the future.

Turbosmart is a great valve and highly recommend from us at DHM.

Now, Go Fast Bits DV Plus or the Turbosmart Kompact Shortie Plumb Back? Worth the extra money for the Turbosmart?
