I have like 1100-1200 V-dynos, lol. But yes sir, it steadily climbed on the upper rpms, but never lost any response. We finally did hit a spot where there was a SUPER small amount of lag added at 3,000 vs before, and we just backed off the clip one step and made all the cyborgs to that spec from then on.

With the stock compressor, we could trim about the entire turbine wheel off and it wouldn't help much because we just don't have enough flow from that little TD049B sized wheel.

Do you have all the supporting mods and a pro-tune?
May want to try meth injection as well, if its an option.
Not trying to talk you out of it, lol. But just want to make sure you know that full-bolt-ons and a pro-tune isn't enough :)

Cyborg upgraded stock Turbocharger system

Disclaimer...
I do not sale these wastegates for any kind of profit. Both are just as easy to work with as the other. The tial MVS does offer one thing, and that's much faster shipping time. But other wise, I'm un-bias. The tial has some advantages and I'll go over them in a bit. But for now... Water bucket test.

I started with a brand new tial wastegate purchased by me for a customer from an authorized tial retailer.
I did not modify the tial wastegate in any way at all. It had been opened up to inspect the diaphragm and spring cup. This is how it tested....

This test shows the tial fittings are sealed tight WITHOUT any sealant on the plugs at all. The diaphragm its self also seals better.... But it has a flaw, and honestly:... Its an issue. Not that the wastegate won't work, its just... It should be sealed. The tial valve leaks at the valve seal/guide. The effect this will have is.... The 20-40-60psi that our exhaust manifold/turbine housing can see, can/will leak into the pressure camber, which will push the spring up and bleed off exhaust pressure before its supposed to. The one catch about this maybe that with heat, the valve may swell and seal its self at a higher temp, but it should not leak at any temp in my opinion.

This is the same test, same pressure. This is a knock-off valve fresh out of the box. The one thing I did do, was put sealant on the port plugs because they have already shown to leak, obvious in the video, I didn't put enough sealant on them or let the sealant sit long enough, lol. But the big thing, it doesn't leak anywhere else, just the fittings. The valve seal/guide does not leak at all. This is the 2nd knock-off I've tested like this. The diaphragm does bleed a little air out of the top that the tial does not.

I may as well go over some differences since I have a minute...

Tial V-band clamps. These easily a higher quality clamp.


The knock off clamps are def not as good. Sorry.


Tial nipple fittings with silver crush washers. Work great.


Knock-off nipples with copper washers. Recommend sealant on threads and maybe a little on the washers, tial also better, but these work with some love.


Valves next to each others. Ummm... Tial comes cleaner, lol.


Tial spring cup and diaphragm. If you can tell, its high quality. 4 set screws with thread locker.


Knock off cup and diaphragm. Not the worst, but it leaks a tiny bit and doesn't seem as high quality. 3 set screws without thread locker.


Double roll pins on tial clamps


Single roll pins on knock-off


Maybe one looks better quality to you???

Incase you missed the previous video/post, this is a knock-off I did seal the fittings on (correctly, lol )

This is meant to inform, not pick one over the other. I think either valve will do the job with a correct pre-load spring setup. We are still testing and if any new and proven results happen, then I'll do my best to inform. Hope this info can help :)

SS, you have a bright future in tech analysis and photography. Really. That is the best photo-comparo-analysis of fine parts I have seen on any forum. Plus invented the Cyborg in your spare time.

Funny the knock off has a crisper logo than the original.

Thanks, I wondered what was inside an EWG. Now I know.

Since I don't have a build thread for my car... I'm going to review a "phoenix systems V5 reverse brake bleeder" soon. But I'll make a new thread for that.
I was disappointed in my new brake lines and all new pads/rotors and I think I still have air in the system, despite changing to motul and flushing the entire system.

Stacy David used one on his show "gears" a couple years ago. And of all the things on a car, I've had my butt kicked by bleeding brakes the most. Since I can't just be wasteful with $15-$20 per quart fluid, I'm gonna have to try something else. $60 via ebay ( $70 via Jegs after shipping ).

Kevin, I'm just trying to help people make educated choices with THEIR wastegate discussion. Not everyone sees different wastegates, so I thought it would be nice if I broke it down a bit and gave people more than "I'm smart and I choose this, so you should to", because I never claimed to be more smart than anyone else, but I imagine people like to see stuff like this, I know it was interesting for me to see them side by side. And to test them.

I would NOT recommend that at all. I'd recommend you do the supporting mods first. I'll build you one, but I can't give you anything on "what to expect". I think I made 218whp on a stock cooler, stock intake, but I had a 3" catless turboback and I was on 93oct. That was also WAY WAY back before I had 1/2 a clue what I was doing tune wise. That was on a dynojet.

Will need better intercooler at the very very least. Like skittle said you should get all supporting mods first

Also... I def was NOT running a downpipe gasket, lol. Call my stupid, but I actually didn't know the gasket even existed until about a month ago when I was ordering some random bolts.

Yes sir. I had these few issues I've been over looking doe to being so busy with everyone elses setups, but I have a semi-local customer driving to me next month for me to install his external WG cyborg. But he can't drive home on a open dump in the engine bay, and since the exhaust shops are closed weekends, I've got to get a dump tube built for him. The only way to do that is..... Do get my external setup on ( FINALLY ) and have a local exhaust shop build me 2 dumps at the same time, so when he comes, I can install all his parts and he can drive 300+ miles home the same day.

So............. A customer is forcing me to work on my car......

At least.... That's my story and I'm sticking you it !! Lol.
Wrap + blanket for me too :)
