Get yourselves some wind tunnel grade fans!! LOL ;)

BTW; I was NOT suggesting some sort of demanded up-sell by you [nono], just affirming that your Race IC is the gold standard, and would be FULLY capable of handling/covering anything that a C39 setup could throw at it as far as CATs are concerned. [wink]

I was expecting the hp curve to be a little different... 270whp seems like x37 territory on the same fuel.
Do you think it's possible to hit 300 on e30 without your found boost leaks?

Well of course its the gold standard! Nothing comes close to it when talking about keeping it cool!

Yes i really do. With a CPE intake and a 3" exhaust. I 100% think we can do it!

Just a little update for everyone. We hit the dyno yesterday finally after several issues to work out. The big delay is i can only leave the shop once a week for dyno tuning. so if a little issue causes us to pull the car off we have to wait a whole week to try again. Hence the fact it has taken a month to get to this point!

This is bigmanlittlecar 's FiST

2015 Fiesta ST
DHM Factory Fit intercooler coated black
DHM 3" catless DP
Cobb intake with Stock Air Box
Stock Exhaust
DHM ST280 (C39 turbo, DHM Turbosmart 17psi WGA, Turbosmart Plumb back BOV)

93oct and e30 tune

This is not my normal Dynojet i use. The ignition pick up was giving some funky issues hence the blank spot in the pull. Also once we switch to e30 and turned the boost up we found a boost leak that on the 4th or 5th pull got to the point it we could actually hear it and seen a big power lose. Also the Coated black factory fit was seeing 105-115deg charge air temps on a 45deg day. This obviously affects power output as well.

After the boost leak was fixed back at the shop the car felt amazing on the street though!

DHM's Review of the C39

I really love this turbo. If i had a 2nd Fiesta ST that would be just a daily this is the turbo i would get. The hard donkey kick of tq is reduced but still there enough to spin the tires and the hp is there up top to keep the tires spinning. The over 4000rpms of usable power makes this a crazy set up. This car is a great example of that it had a 3" catless dp and a factory fitment intercooler. Imagine this turbo with a bigger intercooler, bigger exhaust, and bigger intake! Easy 15-20whp left on the table. Im sure with the boost leak fixed this car would have made 5-10more whp than it did. Just like anything we will continue to improve on package and turbo kit like we do with everything!

Things are looking very good indeed, if keeping my car I would likely switch to it!

----------------

Not related in the least and not at all worried about DHM doing such things as they are being very open about all they are doing here but it made me think of my first turbo shop experience that was totally the opposite.

I took a brand new car to a highly regarded shop to co develop a turbo system for, they burned the clutch and blew the engine on the dyno and I found they blew two M3 built engines the day before. The real tuner quite when the shop owner forced him to blow NOS across the front of the IC two days earlier to make the quoted power so the owner decided he was the tuner and blew up our engines. I got reimbursed when I took a real life bad ass enforcer and and a demand letter to him a few days later.

-------------

Back on topic, a big fan used properly is a very good tool to use, surprised to see a dyno shop not using one!

The CPE cold side charge pipe with WMI bung welded on is a great part and value!

I bought mine unfinished and heat wrapped it.

-----

Note however for those wanting to run a bigger oil filter which is highly recommended it will not fit at least with a stock cooler delete, Mocal Stat plate and lines....I had to go back to a stock size filter.

Oops, my bad, I corrected the post to say "cold side charge pipe"

I had the parts on hand to make my own when it came out so I bought one instead:)

Thanks for taking the time to review it! Can I ask you about the elephant in the room though? If you could take out the people who make each turbo, the pricing, and any other additional benefits from going with the C39, could you give us your thoughts about the X37's that you've tuned vs. the C39 in terms of pure performance. It really seems like power is comparable, with the C39 having a marginally higher power potential, while the x37 maintains a marginally better spool etc.

that's like asking Ford for an unbiased opinion of the Camaro lol

it's great to see some kind of results but wish the boost leak was fixed before the run. As it stands we're left with a very x37 like plot. Not necessarily a bad thing! Let's hope the similarities end there and we don't have an oil leak like that one x37 had...... ;) For now we'll have to settle for more conjecture. woulda, coulda, shoulda, still might maybe be better but the wait continues. :( Dam you boost leak!

One had an oil leak but it was due to an installation error. The turbo oil drain protective plug was left inside the housing. I ended up with the emergency ordered X-37.
