There's a clause in the manual that warns against revving the engine and immediately shutting it off. The rev hang may be there to protect the bearings in the turbo. I wouldn't mess with it.
Now I've heard that the rev hang is mainly for emissions to burn off the turbo exhaust gases instead if it just going out the WG/exhaust but I'll certainly never rev it and shut off simultaneously just in case...
