July 4th updates

So with the weekend upon us I decided to install the no-pistons gas pedal spacer. Pretty easy as it only fits one way (don't force it), just place the seat all the way back, get a deep socket (13mm if I remember right), an extension and a ratchet and you are good to go.

I was going to reuse the same nuts from Ford but the nuts no-pistons supplied as somewhat locking due to the serrated edge and they are black matching the part. But if it loosens I will add some thread lock but I really doubt it will be required.

Voila!

OHHHH what a massive difference. I am now able to blip the gas(I am not the best in the world but I do it now) and it is more comfortable driving. When I brake the toe part of the foot is on the brake and I tilt/twist the foot to blip.

Next update was a cheap dashcam I got at a garage sale (free in a box of junk, loose wire in the power cord); DVR-207 or DVR-027. Works okay but I don't like the mounting. It is HD so not to bad that way I fished the wire around the window and down the column but did not hard wire ii in yet. Will see how it works for a few weeks first. It has a hide away screen which is nice, but did not come with any software to edit/view.

July 7th 2015

Well reached 1689km by the time I got home today, therefore time for an oil change. Since I could not find a synthetic blend I ended up going full synthetic using the Castrol EDGE Titanium with an FL-400S.

First thing I did (after starting to twist on the filter) was to twist the hose clamp out of the way to give myself more room. Good pair of channel locks and it twisted around.
before

After; I did wipe the oil after
IMG-20150707-00194.jpg

I am also replacing the oil pan plug with a Fumoto quick valve F106S, http://www.qwikvalve.com/search.php?mode=search&page=1

In so doing remove the pluge and make sure to not loose the rubber washer. I did end up using it to get better alignment of the quick valve

Valve installed

with the lock, and plug to keep dirt out

With the lock and plug attached

Now some are worried about knocking it off or having it open. Well based on the pictures it is no larger than the plug when oriented the way I did. With the lock I could not open it at all. Checked for leaks after diner and it was fine. Already used the valved as I had a little too much oil. works great.

ah brake dust

This picture is 4 days after a wash. The brake dust accumulates quickly when driving 300km per day, but it does wash off easily when taken care of before it bakes on. I'm doing the wash once a week.

Late to the party but congrats CG. You've been on here so long but I never realised you didn't have your own FiST. Your mod list looks very considered. [emoji41]

Alright, I must be crazy. I got the Fumoto quick drain, same as yours, but it did not fit. The top part (with the lever used to open the valve) would hit the oil pan when trying to screw the thing in. Maybe it's not the F106 and they sent me the wrong one. Will have to try again next oil change I suppose.

I cannot vouch for your mental health. LOL

However if you look at the first picture of it installed you will notice an extender. Like you I did try without but it did not work. I had ordered the extender just in case. I got the ADP-106 for $5.95

http://www.qwikvalve.com/fumoto-adp-106-adapter-p-16136.html

They do have one integrated now but more expensive than the valve and adapter
http://www.qwikvalve.com/F106SW-Adapter-Integrated-Valve-w-Short-Nipple-14mm-1.5.html

If i was to do it again I would order a few of the gaskets to allow the valve to be position like I did without using the rubber OEM washer

Okay, that definitely solves that issue, I ordered the extender. I ordered my valve off Amazon, not the Fumoto website, I wasn't even aware an extender was available.

Thanks for the help!

Beside detailing the car and the engine I installed a Puma Speed Induction hose. Tight fit. Hose does rub a few spots

July 19th 2015 Stubby Antenna

Well I finally figured to give a good try to install the stubby antenna I had purchased. It did not fit correctly (stud too long). I do not listen to the radio so I basically wanted a cheap black short antenna. Searching Ebay with free shipping to Canada I found this. Its a full aluminum antenna. It does come in various colours.

http://www.ebay.ca/itm/2-4-6cm-Car-...aser-/161571409465?hash=item259e680e39&_uhb=1

I tired installing it the first few days but was not happy with the fitment and did not want to frig around with it. So after taking 2mm (1/8") off the stud it fit better. Wish there was a boot to fit like the OEM but it is fine. I added some antiseize to prevent issues in the future to remove it as there is not rubber sleeve.

July 24th; lazy day = detail day

Had the day off today and really did not want to do nor was there pressing anything on the honeydo list. So I decided to give a thorough detailing of the car. Ended up using a carnauba paste wax that I have for special occasions.

Hmm I crave a cream cycle all of a sudden.

I use Armor All rim protectant spray post cleaning and it seems to get me a few more days out of my rims before the dust annoys me to much. Also keeps it from settling in or baking as fast. Might be worth a try but you drive alot more daily than I!
