Catted Downpipe? Any suggestions?

I'm looking for a catted downpipe (yes, I said catted :-/) for my 2014 FiST. I'd like to find a downpipe that allows for maximum airflow, yet is still street legal. I'd also like for said downpipe to fit on the OEM exhaust. Does anyone have any suggestions? Thanks!

Hi and welcome! I recommend the 2J racing catted DP, the built quality and price is really good!

But just FYI, just because its catted, does not make it "street" legal. Emissions law vary from state to state though.

How would you be able to find out if it would pass emissions?
As a general rule of thumb, if you are changing out the DP, does not matter if catted or no cat, its not going to be "street" legal, now that being said, another member summed it up nicely in another CAT / No CAT thread..

In the words of MrClean

Example combinations:

Stock cat + stock exhaust = pass!

Stock cat + aftermarket exhaust = pass!

High-flow downpipe + stock exhaust = sometimes pass! (check local laws)

High-flow downpipe + aftermarket exhaust = most likely going to fail

Open downpipe + stock exhaust = Fail!

Open downpipe + aftermarket exhaust = Fail! (But you will sound like one bad ass mo-fo rolling around city streets!!!)

So... In other words, if I plan on eventually installing an aftermarket exhaust system, I should just say F-it an go with the high-flow downpipe and just hope I don't get caught?

I am building my own DP, 3" with a giant cat I hope gets hot enough to work, I know it will flow as good as I can expect from a cat at 5" diameter and 100 cell count. Also will have a 3" exhaust in the next day or two all will be done.

If the cat does not get hot enough to work then I have to put in a 4" cat with 200 cell count and will because I personally believe I should run one and do not like stinky exhaust either.

2j has the best price for sure if you buy a catted pipe

Open and high flow are kind of the same thing, catted high flow or dump pipe, those would be different to a higher degree.

I was just looking for this info thanks man. So I guess having my 2.5" cbe I'll be fine, but I really think the 2JR catless downpipe sounds amazing! Its $250 now and I think that's a super good deal.

I love my 2JR cat-less DP, the spool and the sound are amazing, and for the price it can't be beat! The installation is not too bad, just takes some elbow grease and time!

Installed my 2JR cat-less DP last night. I've noticed a bit of white smoke coming from the exhaust and around the car. The smoke kinda' has an odd odor. I'm guessing it may just be the new pipe baking in and maybe a little bit of the WD-40 I used to break the original bolts too... Has anyone experienced a similar problem and if so, did it eventually stop smoking so much?

Its probably just from the new pipe and the wd40.

I have his catted DP and his full exhaust and ya it was a lil "NEW" smelling for a lil bit .. keep an eye on it it should burn of quickly if you push the car hard .. heck it took the stock exhaust a week or so to quit stinking up my garage :) lol
