Carmax offered for $18,800 for my 2019 with 32,000 miles, I don't know if I can resist.

There is a good reason to believe fiesta ST's will be collectible like you are saying. However, Fiestas were not going for very much prior to the pandemic. Focus SVTS were amazing and well praised, but totally a forgotten car. Those were very similar to fiesta IMO.

I am probably going to sell my fiesta and maybe they will be cheap again in a few years. An extra 10 grand in my pocket would be great. I still am trying to buy my first house.

The house is more important than the car so that's a great use of the capital that no one can argue. Plus equity building and etc.

I am getting bullied by massive trucks.
The solution to that is don't be bullied. They have big trucks because they want to feel powerful. ie. They aren't. ;)

As for the other stuff, FiSTs are never going to be crazy collectable, very few cars appreciate over time.

@1.6 Damn, Carvana only offered me 18,100 for the same mileage. You st2/3? I only have a base

I am honestly sort of afraid of that. Fiestas were going for that much on the used market prior to covid. Although, I would hate to sell the miata and see that they are selling for big money in 2 years. They car is special enough. Still have GTIs and velosters though.

there are cars that compare, but I do think the fiesta is special. However, we still have miatas. I hate to say it, but I would take a new miata over a fiesta st.

I-65 trucks are hell, and it's hell going up to chicago on 80/88. Felt like i was going to be crushed like a tin can more than once.
Another big reason I am motivated to sell is I am thinking over moving to northern Wisconsin, where there is a ton of snowfall.
I had a Miata back in 1990. Nothing but trouble. Transmission (auto) rebuilt by AMCO who tried to rip me off and suddenly dropped the repair price by $800 when I told them I'd go elsewhere. Not long after tranny screwed up again and I found out they'd used wrong bolts and bolts missing! Tried to get my money back through the court and they threw out my application! Then the rear end gave up the ghost! I'll take a Fiesta ST over a Mazda POS any day!

Carvana offered me 19k for my 2015 with 46k miles. I am located in CA though. Although that sounds nice, I just like the Fiesta ST too much to let go at this point.

I know some people might call me dumb for not selling it to carvana at these inflated prices, but at the end of the day, I can care less about the money I'd make from it.
Damn, my 2017, fully loaded except moonroof, with 12,600 miles they offered me a whopping ……. $15,900. Wtf. I have no intention of selling. Just wanted to see their offer.

I totally think it depend’s on the area. I would say the OP stated three things that would me tell him to sell his.
One , he keeps on talking about having a hard time with trucks with it so he seems a bit dissatisfied two is he is talking about buying a house if his FiST is financially in the way then ya.
Three is he seems pretty enamored with the amount of money there are going to give him and honestly having flipped cars in the past I get that.

OP go sell your car and be happy. Lots of us including myself have stated that we could not see selling ours because we love them so much multiple times here.
It‘s clear you are leaning towards selling it already and just wanted to see if we could talk you out of it.

Fact is you stated very clear distinct reason why someone in your shoes should sell.

Trying to hold out to game the market with our cars is kind of a waste of your time as they will most likely decline in value again sometime in the next year if not sooner and you will be saying I should have sold it.

I have owned and sold many cars and a few that got away I look back and say I should never have sold it.
Thing is they were all cars I drove I did not sit on them expecting the to gain value. I own a car right now thats a total collectors item. I no longer drive it like I used too because of that. Ya I am going to sell it because its a garage queen at this point. FiST’s are drivers cars not garage queens.

Carmax is offering more they offered me $21,600 for my car and Carvana offered me $16,800 seems Carvana has started to wise up to deprecation values as their offer is what I would expect in normal times. Carmax’s offer is 2k more than I paid for the car new . :ROFLMAO:
Carmax seems to be following KBB wereas Carvana is now trying to get ACV so they can sell it for KBB.

Official disclaimer: No I am not selling my car I did this too see what things were doing here.

Yup. Sell it.
I'm looking at a house that went up 20 grand in the recent housing madness. It didn't sell. Now it's back to the earlier price. I'm thinking this inflation bubble is going to burst, so get yours while you can.
Buying the house is only the first hurdle. There will be other expenses. Maybe some improvements you're thinking about. 10 grand will help a lot with that.
There will always be used FiSTs if you ever want one again.

Up $20,000 is nothing. My house is up a easy 50 percent%. I could sell it in a week.

Same definitely area related. I was just curious not selling.

It's comforting to know that if you needed to, you could sell your FiST for decent money. I think they will hold their value pretty well. They already do, compared to base Fiestas.

Ford achieved more than they were anticipating with the FiST. Then they dropped it due to lack of interest. With all the 100,000 mile+ FiSTs we're starting to see, it looks like they last, too.
I know I sound like a broken record, but there's nothing like it for the money, and there won't be for the foreseeable future. I'll drive it as long as my left leg still works.
2014 with 130,000 miles here. I was hesitant to modify a first year car after hearing about cooling issues, but I've had no problems.

The issues are blown way out of proportion by the internet gurus who don't even own a 2014 or have any experience with one. My 2014 had the Cooling System recall done and has kept its cool during Florida's hottest months with the A/C on and never gone above the normal mark on the gauge.

Don’t do it! I sold mine and just bought it back from the guy I sold it to. I’m telling you…the FIST is utterly irreplaceable by any other vehicle. Sure you’d make a few bucks but are all the smiles per gallon and cheap cost of ownership worth a few bucks? I personally say hell no and will never sell my Fiesta…ever! Just my food for thought.

Sold my 2016 Nissan NV200 with less than 47000 miles on it for $2,500 more than I paid for it new five years ago. Bought a 2019 FiST with 8843 miles on it. After driving it a couple 100 miles I know I’ll be keeping this car forever. It ticks all the boxes for me. Looks, handling, gas mileage and herzpers (DONUT MIEDIA). What more can you ask for. So I say sell it. Sell it to someone that will appreciate it for what it is. Best little car $$ can buy. IMHO.

As was stated earlier in this thread, if you're selling x to gain a couple thousand bucks and then get into y but y is not as fun, you lose. Unless you're absolutely desperate for cash, hold on to the house or car you love. We've been looking to move for the last year, and have walked through about 30 houses. We built our house 10 years ago and still love it, but want some land (and my 4 car shop). The thing is, most of the stuff on the market right now is in pretty mediocre shape and not really standout properties. People are trying to sell their crap and make bank. It's discouraging and it's why we haven't moved yet.

Apply that to cars, moving from the FiST to something mediocre for a few thousand bucks isn't worth it imho, and in the same way you're making money on the sale of car x you are also paying too much for car y to replace it.

That said, if you can drive the work truck in the meantime and save for a house, it's a good idea. Just don't expect the market to change and find another FiST or comparable car in a year or two - I don't think that's happening. People are buying up the good stuff right now, and keeping it.

Yup that is the same thing I have noticed here a lot of the houses are just not worth what people are asking . Or if it is really it’s stupidly expensive.
