When mine failed, I’d brought my car into the dealer and the tech stated that they’d have to remove the dashboard to access either of these motors. Obviously, I politely told them that they were stupid, and that I’d do it myself. I only get parts from the dealer, but no service.

That's what the service writer told me, and that the book said it would take more than 1 day. However he called me about an hour later and said the technician told him the book was wrong and he got it done already.

So, has anyone had to do this more than once on their own car?

I'm at 92K and did this (at 50k?). I don't have any indication of failure (uh oh, kiss of death), but wonder if 1) it's going to start again any day, or 2) is the replacement improved?
I see others trying to buy different "brands", but they're all just different boxes (per vendor). I'm saying just one manufacturer for Ford blend doors.

My 2017 failed around 20k... traded in (for my 2019) around 30k. Did not recur in those 10k. My 2019 has about 20k and it hit. Read: in my experience OEM part is good for 20k. I've heard others tout Dorman quality (maybe here or reddit)... I have the part on hand, and can confirm Dorman logo is injection molded into the casing. I guess a private label manufacturer could have done that, but seems unlikely (when it also has stickers--which would have been a much cheaper rebranding option).

Some have reported multiple failures, yes... but none on the Dorman brand that I'm aware of.

The passenger side isn't really known for failing but did replace mine with a Dorman brand. It didn't sound right from the point of install (misalignment) and did fail. Returned it to O'Reilly Autoparts and got a full refund. I simply reinstalled the original OEM part.

The driver side Dorman part has remained solid; never any unusual sounds... and I don't use it conservatively like I did the OEM.
