The above is kind of why I do not understand the compulsive rush to reach 400+ (and well beyond that, for some it seems) ponies to the wheels (and matching 'torques' as well LOL).

Unless it is just to see if it can be done out of 1.6 liters, for the hell of it, regardless of where that power 'comes on', and whether or not it is actually usable ANYWHERE (save for extra legal/criminal, even in 'Mexico' 60-150 roll racin').

Even then, how long until even a fully built bottom end grenades, or transaxle, and half shafts/CV joints self destruct at those insane power levels?? [dunno]

idk what stage 2 means, maybe its an esoteric thing (hopefully not from the VW community haha), but I don't get any 3 gear traction issues on the stock turbo and mostly stock suspension. did an hpde event this past Sun so really put 3rd gear to the test. maybe Im doing it wrong but almost never use 2nd gear in any track event aside from past autoX

side note, curious if there's any way to tune these cars for higher power and lower torque. this is what I sorta miss most about high revving NA hondas. conversely lower power and higher torque not so much my thing. seems like a lot of stock turbo tunes lean in this direction unless im mistaken.

Yup. Making power isn't the problem, is it? Converting it to forward motion is a little trickier. I'm on a "stage 2" with stock turbo, and the first 2 gears are useless. Still spins in 3rd.
First off you are running Randy’s Tunes. Randy is great tuner but his tunes are known for being huge donkey kick tunes . I have said this before and I will reiterate it especially on stock Turbo’s you gain TQ you do not gain much HP. All tunes for stock turbo’s are TQ monster tunes. That is why you feel you are roasting your tires. Also if you went to a inch wider wheel with stickier rubber you would probably spin less.
Now with that said a Hybrid would give you that huge donkey kick with the extra HP.

What you are describing is leaning towards an S280 IMO . I looked at charts for both the Whoosh Hybrid and the S280 and what I saw was stock comes with a pretty decent TQ bump in the low end. I saw a huge TQ bump with Hybrid . The S280 not nearly as much in fact when a S280 is tuned well its relatively stock TQ in the bottom end till around 3k the difference is it increases its TQ in a more linear fashion. It also did that with HP it has a pretty broad flat power band when tuned right.
It’s a lot which made me feel the S280 would be a great turbo to run. I have experienced that which retains drivability around town and allows me to run the car however I want.

yeah I'm genuinely curious with the fiesta what the sweet spot is in terms of power levels.

really want to have the power be usable in the way it's fun for street and canyon driving, as well as have reliability in mind. would imagine at a certain level too much power is not optimal for track driving either. It's good to know what the sweet spot is. I also get the sense a lot of this has to do with the way the power is delivered and not just peak power/torque figures.

280whp being optimal is actually kinda optimistic to me. with wavetrack lsd, 16x8 wheels, 205 dunlop z3 tires, polyu lca bushings, upgraded rmm, trans and pass mts, still getting a bit more torque steer and would like more traction and want to find ways to improve that further. my evo and camaro got more traction, but being much larger and heavier cars they're not as nimble and fun street cars imo. don't think I can realistically get the traction of an evo in the fiesta, but want to try to improve it as much as I can, but sadly other than getting wider wheels and rubber, not sure theres anything more one can do.
You can add suspension bracing like a pierce or tb traction bar. I have the 6 point pierce and i love it. Your right it wont be evo levels of grip, but thats because its lacking the rear drive to keep pushing the nose in annnd jdm goodness; neither a fault of the ST lol.

currently on a e40 tune stock turbo and its just too dam torquey with nothing up top..

Im aiming for 290/300whp with a s280 kit on 92 and i believe that is the primo zone in terms of engine stress and power application fiST wise, with a decent lb/hp…

I tend to agree with @jeff comments regarding usable power and the Fiesta platform. I am at about 280whp on my E30 tune, and I love to autocross both of my cars. Last season, even with wide sticky 200TW tires, traction was a nightmare in my Fiesta. The car was quite a handful and I ended up enjoying autocrossing my FRS more due to it being way more balanced. I am hoping that my LSD and even stickier RT660s will cure those woes, but for what I like to do in my cars, I can't imagine putting more than 300whp through the Fiesta especially with the wheel and tire size limitation
Let us know how the LSD and sticky tires work out.. I'm on the fence about going for a new turbo or retaining stock. Drove a buddy's hybrid with 295whp and 1st and 2nd were 100% useless. Makes me think 250wtq is about the sweet spot.

Sir I do believe this post convinced me to go S280 when the time comes. Been eyeballing that or MRX because I want to retain stock torque levels (ish) and add as much as I can to the top end,.

LSD is great but it's not going to solve the issue we are discussing. Without LSD you have one tire spinning. With LSD you have two tires spinning. I've ridden in those cars. LSD helps but it is not the solution. With useable power it helps greatly in exiting corners, and works to mitigate torque steer, but with the levels of torque we are discussing LSD does nothing to help traction.

Been looking at the RT330 and especially the S280. I hear that Revo have a good rep, but the S280 has the claimed better performance. Dpro likes them, but how does everyone else rate TurboTechnics as a company?
Kinda late to the dance but S280 is a great turbo. I prefer the true big turbos even though they are more of a pain to install and yet the S280 has shown reliability makes great power and all the good stuff. It's a tire killer though.

This is what my intent was for my LSD. I was so tired of braking, entering a corner, and after apexing giving it throttle only to have the car push to the outside of the corner. Our local autocross region runs usually 75-85 second courses. I'm willing to be my stickier RT660s and the LSD will drop about 3 sec at least

More power = More better 👍 Lol... If the engine is being kept safe then send it to the moon. Different shakes for different cakes I suppose.
