Auto Blip - pretty neat

Cool feature! It would require some pretty intense custom code, but I'll pass the idea along to engineering. Personally, I just use a little ankle roll

autoblip is neat but unnecessary. learn to do it manually. it sounds more complicated than it is.

there are plenty of how-to's out there and it just takes a bit of practice. try it in an empty parking lot

Some hard core track buddies (some who race) recently reported they LOVE the @#$% out of this thing. We're all getting a little older and heel-toe is, for some of us, getting to be work. It is not cheap, but might be handy for helping me personally focus on brake management a bit more than getting the blip to happen. It's especially attractive in certain more nuanced brake applications, say trail braking to control the car's balance. Anyway, I have a note into these guys to see if it's compatible with our car. It should be, right? Stick shift with throttle by wire. That's pretty much the requirement. YMMV.

Update 1: Here's what the principal of the auto-blip company said in response to my inquiry:

Thanks for contacting us!
The AUTO-BLIP will work with the Ford Fiesta. The pedal electronics are pretty much the same as those found on other Ford vehicles such as the Mustang. Most AUTO-BLIPs have been sold to Mustang owners and they love it.
If you are comfortable working with a simple digital voltage meter, we can walk you through the installation. As an alternative we can work with your shop to get it installed and working as it should or simply return the unit and we will refund you for the cost of the unit.

Buyer beware. Apparently, they can't get it to work with the Fiesta ST. At least, after my mechanic spent a whole day troubleshooting with the Tractive guys on the phone, the Tractive/Auto Blip guys said they don't want to spend any more time on it.

Do not get this until it is confirmed to work. I'm sending it back for full refund, but have to pay for all the time spent by the shop trying to make it work.

That is quite depressing..... I've played with the auto blip on the new mini's before and it is quite interesting! As someone said above, auto blip is neat but not really needed...

Auto Blip guys looking for a test bed Fiesta ST in Phoenix ==> free product and install to sort out specifics for Fiesta ST

I thought I already posted this, but maybe I got distracted and moved on before hitting Submit Reply. In any event, this is the story...

The Auto Blip guys asked me to relay a request for a test bed to our community. Specifically, they need a Fiesta ST in the Phoenix area. If someone is interested in letting them sort out how this works on the Fiesta ST (and allow them to use the car to document the process), the owner will get a free Auto Blip.

Here's what Andres said in a note back to me after I told him that I was sending mine back:

Sorry we could not get the system to work for you. Unfortunately in situations like this it is difficult to troubleshoot an install and it can take time. Our main concern is for you, the customer, not to have to pay excessive amounts of money for the labor.

Having said that I propose the following, if you know of a local (Phoenix, AZ) Ford Fiesta owner that maybe interested in getting an AUTO-BLiP for free by simply letting us do the installation and documentation, please let us know.

That's my red emphasis. If you are interested in trying the Auto Blip out, this is a great offer. It will also help the rest of us interested in paying for this. His website is down for rework, but the list price is $395, so this is a helluva deal. If I was down there, I'd do this for sure.

My buddy Pete has it working on his track BRZ and loves it. I suspect it is just a matter of getting the wiring right and Andres wants a car onsite to do it more efficiently.

Googled "Auto Blip Fiesta ST" and found this old thread. I called them today to see if the product is available for the Fiesta ST and it isn't. There's some problem with the throttle postition sensor info and their tool. This would be a bad ass feature for the Fiesta ST since heal/toe is a monster pain without f'ing with aftermarket pedals and spacers. Maybe Alex@Stratified can make this work for us??

Get a Garageline pedal spacer, move the pedal all the way to the left, and keep practicing. I wouldn't even try to heel toe with the stock pedal placement but after the spacer install this has been the easiest car to downshift. The ECU senses what you're trying to do and adjusts the throttle input accordingly.. a quick stab of the gas and it always matches revs perfectly no matter what gear or speed.

I wear an old pair of almost worn out VANS when driving this car spiritedly. The sole is wide enough where I can brake and just roll my foot to the right to blip the throttle. I can't do it in regular sneakers without my foot slipping off the brake.

Having learned H&T many, many years ago...I just don't see the need for the car to do it for me. Then again, I don't like electronics when it comes to speed. Basics are all that I need. The trick is to modify the pedal heights and side placements to fit you. Everyone is different and most setups won't work for everyone unless you are a TRUE H&T and not a side roll (like me).

I was instructing at Heartland Park Topeka on a track day a few years ago and had a newer guy ask me to ride with him in his new 300Z (I think). While giving him pointers throughout the session, I was amazed at how well his rev match was on downshifts. After the session when we were talking, I commented on how nice he was getting it done. He laughed, paused and then said the car was doing it for him. It was a bit of a let down.

Thanks for this info. I recently purchased a no-pistons spacer and it really didn't make difference for me. I'll give the Garageline a shot and see if it's better.

Nice looking spacer, how much to the left does it move the pedal? They dont have any installed pics of it.
