Honestly I'd bet that even in that 2800-3500 RPM "wait period" for the full spool, that you probably still make more power than a stock turbo in the same RPM, but we'd need dyno comparisons to be sure about that.
Thats actually true. I actually looked at dynographs of stock vs the s280 vs hybrid. I noticed that the S280 between 2500-3500 was spooling as I saw both HP and TQ numbers that were over stock. More so on the HP the TQ kicked up at 3000 rpm. From my own data logs and pulls which start at 2500 which is where spool starts on my car and yes around 3500 I am in full boost and it carries all the way out to redline. That is the famous like a freight train pull of the s280.
Now with the E30 tune the TQ went nuts around 200 rpm earlier and peaked higher but belled over hard vs the pump tune were the TQ curve was more of an arc with a sweeping bend over not as high but the TQ curve was much more linear. Which gave instant mid range pull .
.
The S280 matched to stock turbo hp wise under 2500 rpm but was about 50ft lbs on torque. Though that is under 2500 and with our short first gear your not in that region long.

I'm wondering if the lag is truly there or if the ceiling is that much higher so it is perceived as lag? More data gathering needed.

Did a 4th gear 2500 rpm to ~4000 log on 92 pump gas, apparently it comes on a lil sooner than I thought. I usually peak 26-27 on pump gas if it's a lil colder outside, but usually 25ish.

edit: I should of done 4th at 3000, or 3rd at 2500 can do another one later tonight when I'm off work. For some reason I thought 4th at 2500 was what my tuner always asked for, but upon double checking it's 3rd 2500 or 4th 3000 lol

I wanted to add more info here, onto my next tune revision. For those that don't follow my build thread it's posted here - https://www.fiestastforum.com/threads/blue-track-street-build-salvage-restoration.25868/

Still tuning the S280, hitting 23psi at 3200rpm, 26psi at 3400rpm. I still feel like there is more in it. This is just on 93, still trying to figure out the best way to get e85/E30 without taking a 3 hour round trip drive.
