So this weekend I went to do the timing belt job, which was going fine until I went to take the crankshaft pulley bolt off, but it was so tight that the flywheel locking tool snapped and is somewhere lost in the flywheel casing. Am I going to have to pull my whole trans to fix this? any ideas? Also liabilty wise do you think i could get the manufactor to pay for labor if necessary would would prefer not to have to do all the labor...

Get a Borescope and tape a small magnet to the end near the scope tip and use that to see If it has any steel in it. If it is aluminum put a sticky tape on the head of the scope and try to stick it to the Broken metal. [driving]

Depends. Is the tool magnetic? A long magnet could possibly save you an ordeal to take off the transmission. But it is a tight squeeze.

It is metal that’s magnetic tried this first got it to the opening. Then it fell even deeper into the transmission, good news, though I just got it out. If you take the oil pan off it exposes the side of the flywheel was able to get it out through there!

That was my first initial thought, too, ended up, losing it deeper in the transmission casing however, when I lost transmission removal videos, I realized taking off the oil pan exposed the flywheel managed to get it out by doing that
