Strange boost behavior

Hello everyone,

So, this has been happening for quite a while, but it is getting to the point where I'm hoping someone has some insight.

The car seems to randomly decide that it doesn't want to hold boost correctly. Most of the time, when I try to push it relatively hard, it doesn't seem to hold and build boost as quickly as it used to. It USED to and still sometimes does decide that it is going to hold boost correctly, and pulls like mad around 2500 or so and feels fantastic. It's at those moments I don't want to drive the car off a cliff.

It seems to be completely random as to which behavior it is going to choose from drive to drive, and even which part of my drive. I've got a bluetooth dongle plugged into the computer, and I am seeing 18-20 PSI at peak, but it takes forever to get there. Most of the time it isn't fully built until around 4000-4500 by which time it's already starting to fall on its face :D

1. I've checked my boost piping, and it is all tight.
2. I've logged some pulls to see if anything looks out of the ordinary as far as AFR/Boost/Timing goes. Other than a intermittent pull in timing, everything seems OK (granted i'm no tuner)
3. I've tried different tip in to WOT, doesn't seem to affect it
4. I've always filled it with 91-93 (91 in TX, 93 in NC)
5. I just turned 20K miles
6. The car is stock other than a drop in green air filter

I imagine it is probably just venting boost, but if it were doing that, would the torque app be reporting it?

Color me confused.....

Thanks!

Well, thanks to the 80 some odd people that viewed this. I hope you are all fairing better and having a much better experience. I give up. I hate this car. It's going to the dealer tomorrow to have things looked at which include:

Leaking axle seals
Whine at 3K RPM in 3rd + gears
Clicking climate control gears in dash

among others....

Well the dealer said they didn't hear anything wrong with clicking clutch, said there weren't any leaking axle seals, and said the trans was not whining. They did fix the click in the dash though.

I also asked if they could put it on a lift and tighten up the boost clamps for me. That made all the difference in the world. These clamps suck, I need better ones :D

Thanks

Thanks Wrongwheeldrive, it isn't the clutch pedal, its the clutch itself. I'm just going to replace it with a more performance oriented part when it finally goes, and be done with the ford part.

Thanks!
