I'm a basshead so the lack of subs was disturbing. Wanted to keep cargo space, stay lightweight, and be able to remove quickly to access the my spare. Did a little math and had just enough room to squeeze two 12" Infinity Reference shallow subs. I tucked the amp into the box and stashed the converter on the front side. Anderson connector for power so and the LC2i has quick connects so the whole thing comes out in 20 seconds. Box is made of 3/4" maple plywood and all in is 38lb. She doesn't beating the block down, but plenty for the tiny cabin.
Started off by test fitting and laying out. I 3d printed templates to use with a router for the amp cutout.
Making sure the rough-built box fits.
Cut sub holes and used a vinyl decal to mask the white before the black.
Painted black, wired, and stuffed to fake a little more box volume.
These shallow subs were key to making this all work.
The hidden ugly bits.
Box fit great and looks good enough to never be seen.
Cargo cover hides everything and lets me bring home groceries.
