intake is on.

-IAT is basically ambient. sitting, driving, nothing over maybe 10deg of ambient. that is amazing

-it's too damn loud for DD use, as stated by 2j before. so, it is indeed coming off. I had no idea that interior noise could be THAT loud, but given the placement, it's def gonna be heard. having to remove the cabin air filter/modify the cage of it also makes the noise worse. There is also sometimes a slight vibration under idle with the stock RMM. it might be able to be stopped by adjusting the pipe.

-the only way things can be improved is by trial and error, and most importantly, FEEDBACK. + or -. mine is some of each. at least people know it's a tedious thing to get in and drive with.

-the metal that was scraped is covered by the hoses. it wasn't huge.

-this shit aint above my damn skill level. it's IN. I had to use some grease around the coupler to slide it down off the pipe. I have swapped motors in 3 different chassis, but this is a custom part and like I said, zero instructions.

take that info as you will. nobody can tell me that those points aren't valid.

In an effort to keep the V-dyno's I post as accurate as i can, I move the weight around for the cars actual weight. I have a scale at work. At 1/2 tank of gas without me in it, its 2740lbs. Even I fill in passenger weight, plus or minus appox weight of stuff in the car ( say tool bags etc ). The 264whp run was done with my GF in the car. She's 100lbs. Which is why the weight difference. The 264 was weeks (maybe a month ago?), and I don't remember exactly what was/was not in the car, which is why I try to label them at the time I make them. I know regardless of weight, the was the 264whp VD a month ago, lol. As for the 273whp, its actuate for the weight of the car today :)

The big change in torque at the start is not ALL the intake, although it certainly helpped. Like i mentioned, the cyborg is a different turbo. And like i posted many pages back, increase its spool time would have a big impact across the band because if it makes even a .5-1psi difference at any giving rpm from start to finish, that's more boost/power while the car is at max efficiency. But not all that is from the intake.

More on the apples to apples topic... Gonna swing a hammer for a bit.

having to remove the cabin air filter/modify the cage of it also makes the noise worse.
Can you explain what this means? Nothing of the sort needs to be modified. Point being, a select group of people asked for the intake without the reducer from the VC to the Intake. You were one of those people, who also said you could pick up the necessary reducer. Instead of doing so, you ripped the silicone hose, became frustrated and it went down hill from there. As I explained, and eluded to many times, the hose and the intake is 19mm, or 3/4. Not 1". When you were at the parts store, the 3/4" hose they had in stock would have fit perfectly. I'm sorry you had so much trouble, but as evidenced by other members, the install isnt terribly hard or complex. With the necessary reducer all the kits are coming out with, the install will be even easier. Remember i posted the part number, etc so anyone could source something similar on their own.

With all that being said, if anyone wants to create a HOW-TO thread in this section - we will gladly ship you a full set of forged chromoly 2JR lugnuts, free of charge.

agreed. my install was pretty quick. I chose to extend MAF wires and re route them "neatly" with other loom/wires for oem look. I also took some smaller dia tubing and fit it along the cowl/firewall seam where the intake tube curves over. that way there is no vibration/contact. I do have solid motor mounts so movement is minimal. cutting the cowl panel is pretty simple. I own a shop so access to the correct tools isn't an issue but this job can be done relatively easy with basic tools. I just followed joe's measurement 12" from the what I believe was the right side of the cowl panel and cut a semi circle 4"/enough to fit the intake tubing. I used AEM pn# 1-4000 dry filter cover to keep moisture/water from the filter. used it just as a precaution. the intake/suction noise in cabin is loud. I track my car so I don't mind the extra noise. also considering my car is gutted and caged now. lol. I feel like the car pulls alittle harder above 4k rpm. seems to me that boost holds longer as well. spool time/ rpm is slightly lowered. all in all, this is exactly what I was looking for for my tracked car. good price, quality, install, and added performance over stock.

My cents/sense.
#1 and I really need everyone to keep this in mind... Like the cyborg turbo or hate it, its a different animal than the stock turbo. I was very surprised in how much the car needed tuned for it, because it is a good size change. But this is an intake review, not a shameless plug, lol. But I wanted to make it clear that everyone maybe not find what I have, being the difference in turbo.

Fitment, and what's included:
I like what's in the box. Filter is small, but who are we kidding, we knew it was gonna be small, look in the space it fits in (its not a choice ). Clamps..... What clamps? Didn't come with hose clamps. I had to reuse the stock hose clamps from my stock intake. Hose clamps are cheap. And the cheapest ones would have been extremely effective, because..... It fits fantastic !!! Not everyone knows what it takes to fab something like this, and even looking at it, it doesn't look very special. It is. The space it has to deal with, and the angles and size of the tubes, means it has to be right. And.... Mine was def right. Now.... During install, you may think "mine is not right, it can't be this tight", while your trying to get it in. I thought that, lol. Once its on, and you see how well it fits, and has room for adjustment ( my personal cyborg intake was tilted a few degrees backwards on purpose when it was built with the idea that I was going to be fabbing an intake like this some day ). It adjusted beautifully, and I'm sure it will fit a stock intake even better. The fittings and hoses that came with it are spot on. Perfect sizing. My one tiny little gripe that I'm likely wrong about is... The big hose for the valve cover breather, it pulls vacuum. For a hose the pulls vacuum, it folds in very easily. Not sure it wouldn't cave in when vacuum is applied. But... How much valve it sees? I don't know... I'm not gonna lose sleep over it. The fittings welded to the pipe seem more than upto the task, and they are sturdy. The maf adaptor didn't look like the threads in it that hold the sensor in ( torx screws ) were the correct thread. Maybe they were.... Either way, I threaded them in and felt good and tight, and secure, no worries there either.

I am extremely happy with fitment. It beat my expectations, honestly.

Sights and SOUNDS.
Its fucking loud. It is. Its loud. Joe told me it was loud 10 months ago. I told you guys it was gonna be loud. Its loud. I have a loud catback and a catless downpipe. Its louder. Its loud. Its nearly silent at idle ( remember, I don't have a stock turbo ). Drive slow, maybe flip an eco mod on and it could be just a little loud. Drive the way I drive ? Its loud. The cyborg spools with much more "control" vs a stock turbo. Mine is loud. It goes from being one of those little jet engine powered bikes to full on Atlanta airport run way loud if I matte the throttle open. It screams. Oddly, once the turbo is making 25-26psi, it quiets down ( but its loud ). My car already made BOV sounds. Just a side effect of the cyborg and large inlet. But now.... Its full on Greddy BOV on a 2nd gen DSM loud, lol.

Performance:
I thought the new intake would be a game charger for the cyborg. I have not looked at the logs, and its so hot outside right now, i'm cooling off typing this before I look into the datalogs. That being said... Its had the exact effect I had hoped it would on the spool and boost of the cyborg. The car has increased 1-1.5psi peak boost with no changes in tune. Without seeing the logs.. I can't speak for much else "apples to apples". But generally, when its 86 degrees outside like right now, I see about 25.5-26psi. I saw 27.5~psi with no tune change at all. The difference this makes across the powerband is yet to be seen and cooler weather it required for my logs to be comparable ( give me a couple days, but I will have some data tonight as well ). Ok... Here is the thing... Just like a bone stock exhaust, swapped for a catless big exhaust system, you have to think and believe that you gained something. Did you ? Hard to say.... Why is it hard to really say? The sounds the car makes just completely changed, and if you think your butt dyno can compensate for this level of DB sound level change, your wrong. It can't. Only logs and V-dynos, and real dyno's will truely tell us. Same is true for me. Sorry, but this is a "stay tuned" paragraph :) initial results.... Yea.... Its gonna be a game changer for the cybrog at least. Just realize... When you guys are at 6000rpm and 14psi, I'm at 6,000rpm and 27psi. So.... My air feed requirements in the upper rpms are much different. Which is why I was so excited over this. I hope it translates to the stock turbo, and i believe it will, but maybe on a lesser scale.

$162 shipped? Worth it every single day of the hour !!! Lol.

i was also one of the kits that came/requested without the adaptor.
i used DORMAN PART NUMBER: 47045 1" - .75" connector
that's all you need. its simple and joe made it clear.

You don't need a reducer. (PLEASE someone post where you used the reducer if you used one........again, no instructions so no idea. EDIT: I see it now, 2jR has you run a 3/4" into the PCV hard line quick-connector. I just saw on PG 44 in a pic.) I bought a 1' - 3/4 reducer. the 3/4 part was way too small. maybe there was a mixup with ID and OD? Not sure. yes I said send it without the reducer...but you don't NEED a reducer; just read on.....

Even tho i no longer have a vested interest in this, i am going to show you some pics of what i did to make the line as unkinked as possible.....before my phone died I grabbed these pictures. It died before I could grab fully installed pictures for hose/harness routing across the engine. sorry :(

Like I said.... a 1" OD brass 90 deg fitting at each end makes the line straight. Also, you can pop off the stock plastic PVC line to the intake and use the still attatched rubber part on the VC as a quazi-reducer and put the 1" OD fitting into that. Its super simple. This is the area that the fitting would have best worked. I don't know anything on sizes except that the fittings i got were HD "Shark Bite" 90 deg from the 1" section, and that fit the silicone hose perfectly as well as the OEM rubber factory reduced connection at the VC

The other end where i used the fitting was at the pipe connection. The hose was already slightly cut from when i got it. I had enough to trim it up and use it for the fittings.

I thought this was a nice solution to the harsh bents. Use this as you like. I ALSO included a pic of the pipe going onto the inlet tube and how i had the coupler installed....after I popped the coupler onto the inlet, I had to shimmy the thing down to center it. might hel some people. I also disconnected the CAS on the motor as it was kinda in the way.

how I installed the coupler pipe:

VC fitting in the stock rubber reducer from the PCV line

Intake pipe fitting.

I received mine yesterday as well, I probably won't be installing if for awhile though as I never really intended to run it day to day. I will be switching between cobb for daily and the 2j for track days.

Looks like a pretty well made piece and I can say for all the crap load of money I have spent on this car I have not paid so little for this much product.
