2J-Racing Cowl Induction Intake

Okay, so here is my review on the 2JR intake this morning on my trip to work. My commute was 23 miles and it took 1hr and 5 mins. So, from that, you can see that there is a lot of mixed driving involved. Half of the trip was 60-80 mph and the other half was stop-n-go/ sitting in traffic. This review is specifically for the daily driver. Later I will get some dataloging done at wot, etc.
So, for the review...the ambient temperature ranged from 65-69 degrees F outside and the air was thick and humid. At highway speed, my intake air temps actually got down below ambient and the charge temps varied from 2 degrees F to 10 degrees F above intake air temps, depending on how I was driving. Sitting in traffic, the intake temps did rise some, but nowhere near as much as an Injen intake for example.
I had no abnormal rattles or noises. The car ran great with no change or issues with air/ fuel, ign correction, etc. Sound wise...it is loud, especially at 70 mph plus. If you like a quiet car on long trips...this intake is not for you. It's louder than my MBRP exhaust WITH the race downpipe, lol. I do , however, love the sound. It's a symphony of intake/ turbo sounds . If you have any questions, feel free to ask or let me know if I forgot something. Here is a short video from this morning on my go pro.

AHHHH, I have the exact same exhaust setup as you do, and you say its louder????? Thats awesome!!

i say awesome because my exhaust drones a lot sometimes. do you get this from your system? just a drone today but maybe not for another week or so then another bad drone session.

The intake will not rub on the cowl as its positioned to rest on the filter. There wont be any vibration. For the best performance, run the cowl without the rain guard (obviously when its dry). They take 2 secs to pop on and off. Even if it rains, it rarely gets wet.

PLEASE NOTE - this was an intake designed purely for racing - and we only planned on making a couple. But based on your response, we made more as needed. As Roger noted, it is loud. You can run dynomat or similar in the cowl to quell the noise if you prefer. Place it over the screen that leads behind the glove box. This will dramatically reduce the sound.

Place it over the screen that leads behind the glove box. This will dramatically reduce the sound.

For Racing this is Great but won't that reduce how well the AC works ? I don't use AC other than for deforsting and keeping the windshield clear on foggy/rainy days. But folks in warmer climates may like their AC. Just a Question have you run it with the vent blocked ?

Not blocking the vent, providing a barrier bw the filter and the vent. Then vent will stay open aft of the filter

Ok I'm sold, especially with the advice regarding dynamat & regarding vibration... Just need to get a motor mount first to reduce engine movement unless you say otherwise Joe...

How's the throttle response....what does the "butt dyno" say?

I am stock RMM so we will know today. if anything I will be filling the OEM mount with 3m window weld if rubbing is an issue.

How's the throttle response....what does the "butt dyno" say?

Tip in of the throttle is less laggy and I feel that spool is a little quicker...wait til we get some datalogs first though, lol. My butt dyno is out of calibration.
