The bumper is 3 parts.

Bumper that connects to car (body colored)
Grill valance (black and sits between bumper and diffuser)
Diffuser (body colored)

Diffuser clips to Grill valance, however, there's one single use rivet on each end that you can break with pliers (from the inside to avoid scratching paint) and replace with reuseable plastic push in clips.

Grill valance clips to bumper, also the same single use rivet on each side.

Just painted my rear grill black last week.
Good on ya.

I can't stand that manufacturers make these supposedly "black" trim pieces gray. Looks especially bad on dark color cars. Can't stand it when dark gray and black cars have paint that's darker than the black plastic trim.

I plan to paint or dip the front and rear "grill" pieces true flat black.

Looks good!!! I've been using Back to Black and it usually keeps it dark for 3-4 weeks but this seems like something that will last much longer with only a little more work up front and will cost less over time. I like it.

Would look sharp on Knuckles. Red with super dark trim is hotness. I sprayed the rear bumper accent on my old civic, (bumper black specific paint, maybe NAPA brand?) it looked great and held up well. Probably will do the same to my Fist.

Was an easy mod, though I should have done a more thorough job masking. Sat with my bumper on my porch for about 20 minutes straight of claybarring. Aside from that, never had issues. It had a slightly grainy texture, but a quick wash and it looked good and dark.

The gray platic is just a conspiracy to sell trim treatment anyway. :p

I did the same with the Honda Fit I had back in 2009. I used a black bumper paint and it looked great. That was done over the factory white paint/ clear coat so It was a little more work...sanding it down, etc. I've done a decent amount of painting for a normal guy, lol. Even prepped and painted an entire car, but never used Plasti Dip. Should be easy and I like the idea.

I'm the OP, and I haven't resprayed mine since I originally did it, and it still looks like I just did it. I think it'll look good for at least a year before I need to re coat it. My car is garage kept though. Good luck.
